  1. That's a pretty clear pic - I'd bet they already know who it is. Hope they get him!
  2. Good addition to the keep warm in the stand thread?
  3. You got this grampy! A good rest is all you need. Looking forward to the dead buck pic - at 200 with pic taken from your blind! Most of my good stands are on field edges or at least can see into fields so I have a lot of distance opportunities. Most of my recent rifle deer have been between 60 and 150 the past few years, but I dropped a doe in her tracks with a .270 at 205 (ranged it after the shot) a few years ago. Good feeling to see her collapse at that range through the scope. I'll be looking forward to seeing that pic!
  4. Lol - 17 cams right now on 86 acres. And I've got a spots I'd like to put a few more out on. I'm starting to get forgetful as to where I have them. Went out last weekend to switch all of the cards and came home and counted 16 cards. Took me a bit, but I figured out which one I forgot (at least I'm pretty sure). Takes a fair bit of time to go through them.
  5. I leave my stands pretty much in the same spots year after year. I've been busted and then shot one minutes later. I've been busted and then not seen a deer all day from that stand. We still use 'em. Two years ago I shot a buck from a certain stand, took care of it within 50 yds and got the tractor back there to take it out. Deer busted me several times through the process. Snorting blowing, etc. That same afternoon my daughter took a buck from that stand, and the next morning my wife took a buck from the same stand overlooking two gut piles within 100 yds. The seat in that stand never got cold! Last year we drew cards for who gets it first. No deer were taken from it - lol.
  6. How many trail cams could be running in the woods across NYS? A million or more? I don't know if that's a high estimate or not, but it seems impossible to think that if there were actually mountain lions in the state that not one trail cam pic exists.
  7. We've got a few nice bucks running around with only one taken so far that I know of. I'd like to hold out for one of those as any of them would be either close to my best or maybe better. Holding off on filling a doe tag to do it with my grandson at the end of the second week and it wouldn't kill me to have a buck tag left. If he was there, I'd shoot a one and a half year old just for the experience of doing it with him there (we have three does under our belts). Wife and daughter deer are a priority for me. The only real restriction I have is not getting injured in any way. Crap it seems like since I've hit 60, I can get injured walking to the fridge! - lol.
  8. Don't they normally get booted in the summer? I've got pics of a pair of cubs with mommy in the spring, and now the cubs show up on cam paired up but by themselves. I also have pics of what I think is mommy, but all alone since June-ish of this year.
  9. Remember these things? They stunk to high heaven!
  10. @dinorocks @wolc123 Would you target this buck for a different reason than the rack? The ballz on this guy!
  11. What an amazing post! Congratulations! I'm all tired out just from reading your post!
  12. I'm fully expecting you to have that rack in your hands for the hero shot that will be posted this Saturday!
  13. Not irrational. Stomach and ballz are two very different things!
  14. Cleaned up and lubed my archery equipment last night to get it packed away for the season. Wife and I have next week scheduled as vacation so I'm done until Saturday when we can carry the boom sticks. Daughter, son in law, and granddaughter will be arriving Friday and staying for a week. Granddaughter wants to go get a buck with us - she's 2 and 1/2 yrs old - lol. Going to live through you guys the rest of the week and rejoin the party Saturday morning - Go get 'em!
  15. Going to beat the fish though, right?
  16. Wasn't really feeling it this weekend. Sat for an hour yesterday morning, and spent the majority of both days doing some last minute/end of season stuff around the house. Daughter, son in law, and granddaughter are coming this Friday night and staying most of next week, so was mostly helping the wife do some housecleaning, and I cut up that dinker doe that I had aging in the fringe all week. Went out yesterday and checked out two stands that I haven't been in yet this year - no issues. And then opened up the tower stand to get the huge bee's nest out - was waiting for freezing weather to make 'em dormant. No issues there either. All taken care of. And then pulled a bunch of cards. Only been through a couple so far, but now I'm feeling it!
