  1. As a rule I am not a long range shooter but have made two long shots on deer in all of my years of hunting. One was 150 yds. with a shotgun and the other over 200 with a rifle. I personally shoot with the intention of making a harvest and if I don't think the shot is possible I do not make the shot whether it is 200 yds. or 50. That being said I also practice at those ranges to see if I can do it if the time comes. I have let a lot pass at close yardages because the confidence was just not there. I will not shoot beyond my range especially with a bow and seldom shoot beyond 75-100 yds. with a gun. So for me it is hunting and not target shooting. My target shooting is done at a target and would never consider shooting at game that I didn't think I had a chance to get. For me the closer the better.
  2. I have a pair of Nikon 8x25 compact binoculars that I use just for hunting. I have had these for probably ten years or so. Somehow the left eyepiece came loose inside and could be heard rattling around and could only focus with one lens.. Since they have a "lifetime" warranty I figured I would contact Nikon to see about possibly getting them repaired. It couldn't have been any easier. They emailed me a return authorization and shipping label. I packed them up and sent them off on 4/2 and they were delivered back to me on 4/20. No questions asked and I didn't pay a dime other than the shipping to return them. Definitely the easiest warranty repair I have ever experienced. to Nikon.
  3. I hear ya...check this video out if you want to see him at his best Andrew Cuomo claims he's 'undocumented,' challenges officials to deport him “I’m undocumented. You want to deport an undocumented person, start with me because I’m an undocumented person."- Andrew Cuomo http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/04/19/andrew-cuomo-claims-hes-undocumented-challenges-officials-to-deport-him.html
  4. I for one am on a few forums(mostly hunting related) that I visit from time to time. I like this one because of all the different topics that come up. Some I could care less about and others I find quite interesting. I have also learned a thing or two and enjoy hearing how others do things and their opinions on things. When it seems to get out of hand I just take a break for a few days and come back later. While some might not agree I will continue to post my perspective on things I know about, things that are near & dear to my heart and hope I don't piss someone off in the process. Still a great forum in my opinion.
  5. "Cuomo cares more for criminals than school children" Best way to take care of this idiot is to vote against him in the primary election on Sept. 13th to make sure he doesn't even get on the ballot. As of right now there is only one challenger which I know nothing about. Can't be much worse than Cuomo as far as I am concerned. Cynthia Nixon
  6. Nothing some sunshine and vitamin D won't cure
  7. I got it at Ganders before they closed with a gift card. Softcover edition was only $27.00 with tax. The hard covers are usually a little bit more. It was the latest edition of anything they had on the shelf.. Last printing (for this one) was June 2015.
  8. Dick’s Sporting Goods has announced plans to destroy the modern sporting rifles, magazines and accessories they pulled from their shelves in recent weeks. That’s the word from a corporate spokesperson asked about pallets of inventory removed from displays nationwide. The sporting goods dealer’s mouthpiece said the firearms would be destroyed at regional distribution centers and the parts sent to a salvage yard for recycling. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2018/04/john-boch/what-will-dicks-do-with-all-those-rifles-and-magazines-they-wont-sell-theyre-destroying-them/
  9. I would be willing to bet you could put a go-Kart frame under that and go just about wherever you wanted. Great idea

  14. DEC to Host Public Information Session on Habitat Management Plans for Conesus Inlet and Honeoye Creek Wildlife Management Areas in Towns of Conesus and Richmond Public Information Session on Tuesday, April 24 The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today that the agency is hosting a public information session to provide information and answer questions about recently completed habitat management plans for Conesus Inlet Wildlife Management Area (WMA), in the town of Conesus, Livingston County, and Honeoye Creek WMA, in the town of Richmond, Ontario County. "DEC is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing wildlife habitats on both Conesus Inlet and Honeoye Creek Wildlife Management Areas to benefit declining wildlife species and popular game animals," said DEC Regional Director Paul D'Amato. "We look forward to engaging with local residents about these habitat management plans and continuing to provide opportunities for outdoor recreation." The session will take place on Tuesday, April 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the conference room at the DEC Region 8 Headquarters, 6274 East Avon-Lima Road, Avon. An open house is scheduled for 6:30 - 7 p.m., followed by a formal presentation. The DEC Region 8 Headquarters conference room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact DEC Biologist Michael Palermo at (585) 226-5383 with any specific requests for accommodations. Conesus Inlet WMA is directly south of Conesus Lake, and consists of 1,142 acres that are primarily wetland. Wetland habitats on the WMA are extensive and diverse, composed of emergent marsh, scrub-shrub swamp, and forested wetlands. Honeoye Creek WMA consists of 749 acres and habitats are primarily upland, composed of grassland and agricultural fields interspersed with hedgerows and fragmented patches of shrubland and forest. Approximately 100 acres of wetland also occur on Honeoye Creek WMA. Habitat management goals for the two WMAs are to maintain a diversity of wetland and upland habitats that benefit a wide range of resident and migrating wildlife species, including several rare and declining species. DEC will continue to actively manage these WMAs to benefit wildlife using best management practices. Planned management activities include: (1) timber harvests to improve forest health; (2) maintenance of wetland impoundments; (3) mowing and replanting grassland fields; and (4) controlling invasive plant species. The meeting will include a presentation about the history of management on these WMAs, specific activities and locations for planned management actions, a brief overview of DEC's Young Forest Initiative, and a question and answer period. The habitat management plan for Conesus Inlet WMA can be found on DEC's website. The habitat management plan for Honeoye Creek WMA can be found on DEC's website. For more information about this event please call (585) 226-5383.
  15. Key Findings 1 in 5 Adults have a mental health condition. That's over 40 million Americans; more than the populations of New York and Florida combined. Youth mental health is worsening. Rates of youth with severe depression increased from 5.9% in 2012 to 8.2% in 2015. Even with severe depression, 76% of youth are left with no or insufficient treatment

  17. Only positive thing about it is we are not mowing and scratching bug bites yet.
  18. Maybe next time Herman Bell, a former Black Panther and Black Liberation Army soldier will run into a law abiding gun owner that will solve the problem for good.
