  2. Practice Leave No Trace Always carry out what you carry in. Pack extra baggies to ensure you can pack out any trash and food scraps. It takes months for an apple core to decompose and up to two years for a banana peel to decompose. It may not have a visual impact but in that time of decomposition, it has attracted wildlife and permanently impacted their survival patterns. Carrying out all trash and scraps will protect our wildlife from negative impacts, reduce wildlife encounters, and preserve the pristine beauty of our forests. Did You Know… Trash Decomposition Timeline Aluminum Can-------------------80 to 100 years Plastic 6-pack Holder----------100 years Orange or Banana Peel--------Up to 2 years Plastic Film Container----------20 to 30 years Plastic Bags----------------------10 to 20 years Glass Bottles---------------------1,000,000 years Plastic Coated Paper-----------5 years Nylon Fabric----------------------30 to 40 years Leather----------------------------1 to 5 years Wool Socks----------------------1 to 5 years Tin Cans--------------------------50 years
  3. Cuomo's fifth trip to Puerto Rico: On Monday July 23, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo will be leading a "NY Stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Initiative" trip to support ongoing recovery efforts on the island. The delegation includes SUNY and CUNY Presidents and students, nonprofit partners, labor leaders and elected officials. Members of the delegation will participate in rebuilding efforts in the Northern and Central regions of the island as well as the San Juan Metro Area and will return in the evening of Tuesday, July 24. This is Governor Cuomo's fifth trip to Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria. "The federal government's incompetent and inhumane failure to respond to the crisis in Puerto Rico has been a national disgrace," Governor Cuomo said. "While the federal government turns its back on Puerto Rico, New Yorkers have stood with our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico since day one of this tragedy, and we will continue to stand with them until the job is done. I look forward to leading this delegation to Puerto Rico to support our ongoing recovery efforts as we help the island rebuild better than ever before. Puerto Rico still faces a long road to recovery, and New York will walk with them every step of the way."
  4. Cuomo, lawmakers urge Senate to block Kavanaugh over guns NEW YORK (AP) — Members of the Congressional Black Caucus have joined New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in calling on the U.S. Senate to reject Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh because of his expansive interpretation of gun rights and the Second Amendment. Cuomo, a Democrat, said Saturday that Kavanaugh's past opinions show that he believes it is a constitutional right to carry "even the most dangerous assault weapons." Rep. Gregory Meeks, a New York Democrat, called Kavanaugh's nomination "a grave threat to reasonable gun control measures enacted by states." Meeks and other lawmakers joined Cuomo at a Manhattan news conference to urge the Senate to block Kavanaugh's nomination. Kavanagh has taken stands favoring broad gun rights in his current job as a judge on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
  5. U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., kicked off what will be a string of town hall meetings across the state Friday at Monroe Community College. 3. Taking aim at the NRA Midway through the stream of questions Gillibrand received one from the mother of two MCC students centering around gun control and how children are now being drilled on how to deal with live shooters. After briefly pondering the emotional question, Gillibrand cited the NRA's lack of compassion and not having the majority in Congress as roadblocks to reform. "The NRA is funded by the gun manufacturers. They don't care about protecting your kids, they don't care about that 17-year-olds can buy automatic weapons at Walmart. They oppose all common sense gun reforms." "The reforms I think we can pass if we get a new Congress, is that I think we can get to universal background checks. I think we can ban assault weapons and ban large magazines. These are military weapons and our military is highly trained to fire these weapons. There's no reason they should be available to the public." However, Gillibrand closed out her answer with a strong response to gun trafficking and suggested a much harsher punishment for those found guilty. "In New York state about 90 percent of the guns used in crime are trafficked from out of state. Most of those weapons are illegal and they don't go to a gun store or they don't go to Walmart. "They get sold off the back of a truck to a gang member. We should at least be able to pass an anti-trafficking bill that makes it a federal crime and holds kingpins accountable with serious sentences."
  6. Probably the same father and different mothers
  7. It's not to early for me to start but it is to freakin hot, when it cools down enough the bugs want to carry you away, and I don't drink beer so I guess I will wait a little longer
  8. I didn't say wasn't...I said "are not" meaning present time.
  9. I am not angry because it turned out good;. but you can bet your "shit sandwich" if it hadn't and someone besides the suspect got hurt there would be public uproar. With all the cops available in almost any locality they could have found a better way to stop him is all I am saying.
  10. Trying to hit someone or something while trying to control a car especially under those conditions is spray & pray. Luckily he didn't injure any bystanders in the process. If he had you can bet the news would be all over it calling for his badge. I hate to disappoint you but Annie Oakley and James Bond are not for real.
  11. No training involved in that one...that was strictly a spray & pray. Probably the same guy that empties his shotgun on a running deer, reloads, empties again, and the deer is still running.
  12. Saw that last night. Why would anyone shoot through their windshield in hopes of hitting a target. It is against the law to text and drive but shooting and driving is acceptable
  13. Just convince yourself the sign say Dicks and boycott
  14. I can't speak for the rest of the state but it is not uncommon for bears to hit the Limekiln campground. Since they closed the inlet dump the bear in that area seemed to start hitting the campground more frequently and if you enter the plains area there are bear warnings at the entrance which is a stones throw from Limekiln Lake.
  15. I would join but my old Honda 300 Fourtrax would not keep up. It will still haul deer and take me were I want to go but it isn't going to win any races for sure.

  17. Sorry I missed it hope it was good
  18. Tough to beat a Honda for reliability and durability.
  19. I just picked up a couple of Brownings from Phade and have been dying to put them out but have not because I am afraid they would melt hanging in this weather and do not want to go back and find a glob of melted plastic.
