Pork shoulder "Butt"....
-
6 hours in, I took it out, mopped it, wrapped it in foil and it is back in... Thinking this is going to be yummy....
-
1` pin set for 28 yards.... I hold on the deer's heart at and under that yardage.... mid lung to 30-35 yards... I don't shoot over that unless it is a follow up shot... bow is 7" low at 40 yards with this set up...

I think she found my camera... LOL
-
OMG that's funny....
-
Got 4 Primos Ultra 46 cameras out this past weekend.... lot's of apples and some good spots of acorns I saw.... Anyone else seeing anything??

Week of the 9th off.... Nice...

thanks.... We were actually looking for a 24-25" impala, stalking in some thick stuff... The impala was hanging in the same area as these 2 Wildebeest bulls were... stalked up on the 2 bulls, got within 40 yards... looking for the impala, all of a sudden this bull stands up and I remember thinking "there weren't 3?"... when my PH turns and looks at me and mouths "Shoot that one now"... I bring up the T/C and BOOM!!! The 338 barked and this bulls butt hit the back of his head as he nosed dived into the ground.... As we move to the side to get a better angle my PH yells "Load another round, they don't go down like that!"... I pop another round in the gun and as we get closer... we see the bull's head is still under him... I remember thinking "they" might not go down like that but HE did... LOL... He was done.. PH was jumping up and down... hooting and hollering... I had no idea just how big he was.... He tells me stay here.. I'm going to the truck to get a tape measure... He came back and measured him at 31.5" wide... Started jumping up and down again... I had to hold the tape while he took pics to show other PH's that it was a true 31.5" wide...

Never been one to hunt the big cats..... I would like to go back though... I've tried twice for a Bushbuck and warthog... Just can't find a mature one of either... Would also like to take an Nyala, waterbuck and a Lechwe.... But we shall see how funds are... LOL Thanks for all the kind words....
-
There are more.... But thanks to all.... No lions.... I don't have the desire or the bank account to hunt them... not against it though... Have 2 friends that killed them...
-
Finally got them where I want them..... these aren't all of them but it's got the ones from last years trip... First should be the huge blue wildebeest I took... Second one from left to right is Gemsbok (2012), Springbuck (2012), wife's red hartabeest, wife's impala and my black wildebeest Third pic is the Kudu pedestal mount... has the back skin in the base...

Food for thought: yearling buck protection
Grizz1219 replied to Buckstopshere's topic in Deer Hunting
personally... I think if you want to save bucks.. make it a 1 buck per year... period.. shoot a spike, you are done.... make it simple... Ohio does great with it... not complicated... -
If it wasn't for the moose I took in 2013, I would be completely out of meat.... This year I will fill my tags... last year I put all my tags for my vacation during MZ season and my mom passed away on the 11th.... Did get out... So, this year I am thinking I won't have the rug pulled out from under me like that so I'll be bringing home a lot more venison...

The kid is going to take the course so he can hunt... but still think it makes more sense "physically" to let the younger kids hunt with a rifle over forcing a bow on them... more mistakes can be made with a bow in terms of the shot I think... just my own history and what I hear from others... in other words.. more bad shots with a bow over a gun...
-
UG... seriously.... 12 to hunt with a bow but not a gun???? That seems like a dumb rule to me.... But it is what it is...
-
Can someone send me the link to the youth deer hunt???? Trying to take my buddies 12 year old this year... He will be a hunting machine... already shoots geese... Got him on a big turkey this year, he rolled him but the bird got up and ran... UG!!!! But he is hooked... Any help you guys can give me would be huge... Thanks in advance..

$50,000.00 is steep even for a lion... but not out of the park crazy, he would have paid a lot to hunt them even with a reputable outfit so that wouldn't be a red flag into illegal activity.... I think anyways...

I think the PH's used are the criminals... This guy has a history of game violations but in this case, I don't think he knew.. as for the hunting of lions... Read this article in Time, it's a good read.. http://time.com/3976344/cecil-lion-zimbabwe-walter-palmer/

The guy has a "history" with game violations but I'm thinking he didn't know what he was doing was wrong in this case only...

This article is worth reading.... especially the last paragraph http://time.com/3976344/cecil-lion-zimbabwe-walter-palmer/

#1 is deer... fill my freezer with the meat for my family.... #2 turkey... I love hunting them and playing the game... don't need to drop the hammer to have fun either... I've called them in and let them walk away just to keep playing the game..
