My rifled bolt action 3 inch 12 ga slug gun has a Nikon Pro Staff 2x7 on it and it works perfectly, allows plenty of light at dawn and dusk, is very accurate and is as rugged as any I own. I've had it on the gun for at least 10 years and shoot it often. (I use a lot of padding when not hunting with it) Scopes made as "shotgun" scopes are no tougher than the same model not sporting that moniker. They just have parallax focused at 50 yards rather than 100 yards and usually thicker cross hairs on the reticle for faster shots at moving game in close cover. Never understood why makers think that should be standard for shotguns used on deer.

It's not an argument, it's a debate. I also find it interesting you claim to have had the opportunity to play with a fully automatic firearm, yet claim you never missed it after getting "rid" of it. I've never met any "gun guy" that wouldn't miss a fully automatic rifle once in his possession. Either you really do not like firearms, or you're flinging BS. I have to call BS on this post. The Swiss Army uses the SG550 Assault Rifle which is full automatic. They do not us America AR's. If this upper Manhattan person really lived there he would know this. It's also only his 9th post on this hunting site. I smell a troll.

Back in the 70's there were plenty of black semi auto's being sold in this country, and plenty of large cap mags too. Lots of large cap semi auto pistols too. They weren't sold in hunting stores though. They were sold in "Gun Stores". They were also perfectly legal and target shooters loved them and bought them, no matter how expensive. We had AR's, AK's, Valmets, H&K's and Uzi's too. We also had M1 Carbines, Garands, Thompsons and M14's as well. All were semi-auto and legal and they were considered cool. There were no mass shootings though. Until that idiot Charles Whitman climbed into that tower at the Univ of Texas anyway. And he used a bolt action with a scope. A DEER rifle! Anyone of you who thinks the gun grabbers will be happy if they can take away these military look alike semi autos is in denial. They are not going to stop until all "gun violence", which is not caused by law abiding, responsible gun owners, stops. Do any of you think it's going to stop? Neither will the gun grabbers. It's not that we have these semi auto rifles today that's the problem. The problem is the people we have inhabiting our country today that have no fear of killing lots of people. And if they can't get a rifle to do it, they will improvise. Remember the tractor trailer mass killing recently? How about fertilizer bombs and pressure cookers? How about Anthrax? It's the killers we need to stop, not the rifles we may need to defend ourselves with if total economic collapse occurs and we all get to see what a lawless society is really like. Survival will be the only thing that counts and a good semi auto with lots of ammo may be the one thing you need more than anything to survive. The one other thing we have now we did not have in the 70's is a government so corrupt, it doesn't trust it's people and wants them disarmed. That can only mean they desire total control. What do you think they want total control for? Too make America great again? I don't think so. So, if you think the 2nd Amendment doesn't protect your right to own a semi-auto with large cap mags, you might as well get on your knees now and get used to being controlled.

Don't believe the polls that are being tossed about. The media lies to support their chosen one. The polls can very easily be manipulated too. The greatest evidence Trump is still a major threat to Leftist Progressives is how much they attack every single thing he does or says, and they do it in the stupidest ways. If he was really 10 percentage points behind in the polls, they wouldn't be wasting their breath on these things.

Manufacturers make what the public demands and will buy. It would be a mistake not to. Nobody made a peep prior to black guns? Prior to the faux "assault weapon" restrictions, handguns of all types, including revolvers, were the devil's tool. Non-gun owners are not the problem and don't hate the 2nd Amendment. Anti-gun groups, with a desire to control a population that cannot resist, are the problem. And they never met any firearm they liked and would approve of anyone owning.

I see this election offering citizens two choices. Hillary will give you bigger government, higher taxes, a stagnant economy, more regulation and infringement on ALL of your rights and possibly endanger national security to the point of getting thousands of Americans killed. Trump will not be perfect and may screw up a few things, but offers a chance to regain what the Left has taken away, or destroyed. A return to more government by the Constitution, a Supreme Court that will protect that ideal and less government infringing on All of your freedoms. That will improve the economy, lower taxes and limit government interference in all areas of freedom. Regarding National Security, history proves the best thing a country can have to be secure from it's enemies, is a leader it's enemies respect and fear. I hear a lot of idiots talking about things they think Trump might do, but none of them will ever mention the things they know Hillary will do.

That's the main reason I think I'll be out there too. Good opportunity to see what's around. But I do worry about spooking the bucks out of the area when looking for bear.

Used to be a lot by me, but the farmer up the mountain was getting his corn ruined by them. I think he got a permit to shoot them (not sure) but haven't seen any sign of any bears here for some time. Not sure if it's worth going out for them here. I'm checking with others who say they have seen one by them.

These are not people who lack standing in the community. These are people who can influence others because they have the data to support their claims about corruption and massive debt. Obama and the Progressives created Trump's appeal to the masses, It's a sign that a lot of Americans are fed up with the ruination of the country they have witnessed over the last 8 years. They also saw the GOP congressional officials they elected to put a stop to it do nothing, so I doubt their whining is going to have any effect on the people's choice GOP nominee. You can call Trump unqualified or unfit, but compared to Obama and Hillary, that's just venom without merit. Obama and Hillary have proven themselves incapable of being the leader of the free world. Obama's followers still re-elected him, and would do it again if they could. Hillary's followers are in complete denial regarding her corrupt aspirations. The Republican party has turned itself into an impotent waste of political power and has refused to properly convey the values of worthwhile conservative principles. They no longer command the respect of Conservatives. They refuse to accept that in order to be a leader, you must have followers. The reason they are all attacking Trump, instead of the enemy of the state Hillary Clinton, is because they are pretty sure he will not be defeated in November.

There you go again. Nobody defends criminal actions by cops. A lot of people defend cops wrongly accused of criminal action though. Then there are the cop haters who always think any shooting by a cop was a criminal action. Those are the people who know absolutely nothing about the law, crime, criminals or police authority. I'm sure they would rather the criminals that refuse to cooperate with police when they are stopped, be able to take the first shot. People like that would rather have lots of murdered police officers than dead criminals. I'd rather have more good cops and fewer people like that.

Hillary has proven to be a threat to national security. Why aren't the turncoats bashing her instead? Maybe they fear what will happen to their security when Trump is elected? I think they have too many skeletons in their closet and too much to lose when Trump is elected. That's why they protest too much. If you don't support the person your party's people have chosen, you should quit the party and join the ones you support. These were all RINO's to begin with anyway.
