So the leftists who promote abortion on demand are now saying people shouldn't have children because the future's gonna be bad. They also want complete elimination of civilian firearm possession. How long before they come clean and admit they would not rule out genocide to make the future better? History proves this playbook has been used before.

Hr1263 bill
Rattler replied to silent death's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
And the bill has been introduced by a Democrat! I'm shocked!!! -
Why doesn't the school administration step in and give the kids info concerning all sides of the issue? Why not tell them the disadvantages to their future if the costs demanded were forced upon them and what they could realistically expect to gain from the huge sacrifices they would be forced to make? Because the fish rots from the head down, that's why. Public education is now public indoctrination. Even the Chinese are learning from it, and they have been considered the world's premier propagandists up till now.

8 Serious Flaws in the New Background Check Bill Under H.R. 8, private citizens seeking to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms would be forced by the government to first pay for background check services from a for-profit federal firearms licensee. The bill would also prohibit the federal government from setting a maximum fee that a licensee can charge for processing a background check, meaning the licensee could charge whatever it pleases for a service the government requires. https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/02/25/8-serious-flaws-in-the-new-background-check-bill/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTW1RMlptSmhNVGswWldJNCIsInQiOiJoVG01Sis3WFBSbW5HVkZiNWp0bFBHWkUzQjNybnF4XC9PbUlwd1QySHVqb2FmRXVYT2NEWjRWOHdOWmFSZ28rc2Y0K1FnT2FERHVqcUtvUnJ3MGt0dFg1OTdySit1TmpHZWxKNWhXVHVPZ0VOTTQyRUlpYlpRRk9sNHRuUTFaSGsifQ%3D%3D

If teachers do what is disrespectful, they do not deserve respect. They are not idols nor authorities. They must earn respect. And that comes from the community they are paid to serve. Unless you are willing to send your children to "indoctrination centers" that will school them against all of the morals and values you hold dear. Too many who work for the government want us to think they are superiors, when in fact, we are their superiors. They need to look up the definition of "serve".
-
Notice the teacher is the biggest propagandists in the room. She has really done her job of teaching the kids what to think, as opposed to how to think. She has no idea what the costs and consequences to society would be if the "Green New Deal" were to ever become law. She's been brainwashed and is making a career out of brainwashing the students she's allowed to have contact with. We really need to get the government out of education altogether.

Lower the voting age to 16 years old?
Rattler replied to ADK Native's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
That's because they don't think having a "pee stick" makes you a male. -
Wonder if you can pick some up in the PA Elk range.

Yeah, but nobody will have any money.

Lower the voting age to 16 years old?
Rattler replied to ADK Native's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
All of this current legal age debate is ridiculous. How is it some things are legal at 18 and some not legal until 21? You're either an adult or you're not. This society needs to decide what the legal age is, and it should be applied to everything. If it isn't, the absence of logic is obvious. If you can be a soldier or executed at 18, but can't drink a beer or buy a rifle, society is really confused about what being an adult really means. That being said, 16 year old youth are still under the control of the public education system, have no real world experience and will often follow the crowd on political issues. They don't pay taxes, are not yet productive members of society and have little, if any knowledge, about the electoral process or legislation. Pre-born children are the most vulnerable to abortion. Should we give them the right to vote based on the flawed logic being applied to this situation? -
Ultimately, the anti-gun agenda could not be clearer. Rather than focus on enforcing existing laws or adding all necessary records to the existing background check system, anti-gun organizations want to restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners. https://www.nraila.org/articles/20190222/the-truth-about-gun-sales-and-hr-8

https://www.nraila.org/articles/20190222/bloomberg-s-everytown-criminalizing-private-transfers-is-about-creating-culture-of-compliance Everytown for Gun Safety William Rosen made clear that gun control is about creating more servile law-abiding gun owners. Rosen was asked by State Assemblyman Tom Roberts (R-13), who has 34 years of law enforcement experience, I’m really concerned about the people that don’t follow the bill, follow the law that you’re intending to pass here…. How’s law enforcement supposed to enforce this in the field? Say they’re not a prohibited person, but they still don’t abide by the transfer process, they just sell it like they’ve been doing at a gun show or whatever. How’s law enforcement supposed to investigate that and prosecute those cases? During his response, Rosen explained, “The ultimate goal of this type of legislation is not to put people in jail but rather to create a culture of compliance where law abiding gun sellers require background checks...” First, Rosen gave the incorrect impression that the legislation merely restricts private gun sales. In truth, the legislation criminalizes all firearms transfers that do not meet a narrow set of exemptions. Second, Rosen revealed a foundational truth about the gun control movement. A given piece of gun control legislation is never about any purported public safety benefit the legislation might bring about. It’s about acclimating gun owners to further restrictions on their rights and setting the stage for further firearms control.

A trip down memory lane. Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) Doesn't Want Them Remington, one of the world’s largest gun manufacturers, will on Monday join Gov. Robert Bentley (R) to announce they are bringing over 2,000 jobs to Alabama. Most of the jobs will be relocated from their Ilion, NY plant, and the initial investment in Alabama will be $87 million. Founded in 1816 in upstate New York, the company is one of the nation’s oldest continuously operating manufacturers. Remington is the only U.S. manufacturer of both firearms and ammunition products and one of the largest domestic producers of shotguns and rifles. Remington first began considering new locations after the New York legislature passed the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act in response to the tragic shootings in Newtown, Conn. It broadened the definition of so-called “assault weapons” to include a wide range of guns, including the Bushmaster, which was being manufactured at Remington’s New York plant. A month ago Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said “extreme conservatives” who are “right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay,” have “no place in the state of New York.” Gov. Bentley responded “In Alabama we strongly support and uphold our great U.S. Constitution on which our nation and our states were founded. “The Constitution serves to protect individual freedoms. Among them are those guaranteed in the Second Amendment, which protects the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. We will protect the freedoms of individuals and welcome any one or any company to Alabama to discover as so many have, that we are a pro-business state filled with good, hardworking people. “If Gov. Cuomo doesn’t want hard working pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment people in his state, we will gladly take them here in Alabama.”

Brilliant sarcasm. LOL! -
No matter how you look at it, NY is to blame for it's reduced tax revenue. But far be it from any tax and spend leftist to admit it and work on fixing the problem. Instead, they yell "FORWARD" as the drive it off a cliff. Ed Feulner: "Amazon isn't the only company wary of locating in New York. Many other individuals, families and businesses are fleeing the state as well — ones who don't remotely qualify as the hated '1 percent' — and they're taking their income and tax revenues with them. How bad is it? Between 1997 and 2016, every dollar of income that left New York was replaced by only 71 cents coming in. No state can sustain that if it hopes to grow. What states need to do, in short, is stop meddling. Rather than pick winners and losers (which would be a mistake even if it were qualified to do so), it should create a low-tax, low-regulation environment where all businesses, big and small, can compete fairly for its share of the economic pie. No one can blame Mr. de Blasio for lamenting the jobs that won't be created as a result of Amazon spurning New York City's offer. But this isn't 'an example of an abuse of corporate power,' as Mr. de Blasio called it. It's the inevitable result of a bad business environment. And it certainly shows the folly of relying on crony capitalism to attract companies to your playing field."

What 162 grain bullet is he using? A bullet that long tends to occupy a lot of the case space resulting in less room for powder and a compressed load. Not sure what he's expecting to get with that bullet other than increased penetration. Although it's a lighter bullet, but about the same OAL, I would consider using a 140 grains Barnes TTSX bullet for pigs, as it will give higher velocity with the same powder charge and excellent penetration with better retained bullet weight.

This law seems to be based on the ignorance of the legislators. They seem to think if you win a firearm in a raffle, it is just handed to you at the event, circumventing all NICS transfer laws. Either that, or they want to financially cripple any organization that would have the gall to promote responsible firearm ownership as a fund raiser.

Lets hope this delivers on the promises. If it isn't stopped soon, the consequences will be severe.

Speaking of turkey, at 8 AM this morning, with 30 degree temps, overcast skies and 2" of fresh snow on the ground with flurries still in the air, a gobbler sounded off on the mountainside. Earliest I've ever heard one gobble in the morning.

New Poll Results
Rattler replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I look forward to the comedy show that follows each and every future poll, showing the popularity of all of these leftist tyrants plummeting. Of course those will only be legitimate polls. The biased leftist contrived ones will still be used to control their clueless base of Marxist minions. -
Sounds like another political patronage payoff position. Anyone here think his "policies that improve the lives of residents in every corner of this state" have enhanced the quality of their life in this state? Anyone see any uptick in the employment sector from "fostering economic opportunities that create new, 21st century jobs"? (Aside from work in an abortion clinic) His "gun safety" rhetoric is just verbiage from the leftist playbook that translates into "gun control". Leftists have learned to use more banal speech to avoid transparency, in order to avoid blow back and objection to their oppressive goals. For example, the term "gun violence" is used to direct attention away from "gang violence" and make it seem as if the guns are the problem, not the gang members. It's all about controlling what leftists have an interest in controlling. This new parks commissioner isn't about to make the state parks more useful to citizens. He's there to control their use.
