My custom M1 carbine hunting rifle
Rattler replied to Rattler's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
It's a good coyote gun if it's accurate and you are shooting 100 yards or less. Using 110 grain soft points and hitting the heart or lungs, it will take a deer under 50 yards with no problem. It could do it at 100 yards, but the shot would have to be well placed. -
My custom M1 carbine hunting rifle
Rattler replied to Rattler's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I buddy of mine just send me this photo from back in the day hunting at his place outside of Bloomville, NY. Must've been about 1982 or so. I've never even seen this. I was cleaning the rifle after the hunt and checking the sights. -
My custom M1 carbine hunting rifle
Rattler replied to Rattler's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Grampy, sadly, I have no pics of hunting with it at all. Mainly because when I hunt with it I travel light and take only what is essential. I would love to leave it to my grandson if he takes up hunting, or at least wants to own some firearms for target shooting. But at this time, he's only 5 months old, so I'll have to see what happens. Wolc, there is very little meat damage with the 110 grain soft points. They expand just enough to do internal damage and half the time do not exit the far side of the deer. The shot looks similar to a .357 mag rifle hit on a deer. All my shots have been through the ribs and in the lungs or heart. At less than 50 yards, which is what I hold to with it, it will do the job with one shot every time when it hits the lungs or heart. I think meat damage would be similar to what a .30-30 with a 150 grain soft point would do at 150 yards, where the velocity would be close to the .30 carbine's at 50 yards. -
Charges dropped on Jussie Smollett
Rattler replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Seems to me the prosecutor dropped all charges and let him walk because of political connections. I don't think any judge was ever involved in this. If the charges are dropped, the perp never goes in front of a judge. What concerns me are the political connections. It's likely the same political connections who were able to get the charges dropped, were also involved in the hoax. Having a prosecutor, who is connected to these same politicians, drop everything, effectively covers it all up. This black female Chicago prosecutor has a lot of leftist baggage from the Black Lives Matter days and was letting criminals off the hook back then too. She is no friend of the police and the Chicago PD have called her out for being a friend of criminals in the past. So what it boils down to is this: There is a big money manipulator on the left, with high level political connections, planning social stunts designed to attack Conservatives and Trump, with an eye towards a successful political coup. It's a conspiracy. It's felonious and seditious. The Russia hoax, Black Lives Matter riots, Antifa, college protests and white privilege scams are all seditious attempts to overthrow a duly elected President, and there are many laws being broken to make these scams happen. Our country's FBI and DOJ are either completely incompetent, or somehow involved, to not be able to see it and put a stop to it. -
My custom M1 carbine hunting rifle
Rattler replied to Rattler's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
It does hunt well. It's short and light and quick on target. Shots within 50 yards have plenty of power to take down a whitetail. Great fun when just out for a walk in the woods. -
Way back in the summer of 1980, just after I graduated college, custom rifles were all the rage. After reading a book on customizing rifles by T.L. Bish,(https://www.hillcountrybooks.com/products/keyword/%20care) I decided my Plainfield Machine M1 Carbine needed to be gentrified. I spent the better part of that summer doing the work in my back yard. (Got a great tan that summer) The rifle was completely polished, tuned, smoothed and reblued. I added Williams sights, a front ramp and a rear peep. The bolt was jeweled and a Fajen mannlicher walnut stock was also worked from a rough semi finished piece. It was fitted to the rifle when it was completed. She's a hunting rifle with the 5 round mag, but still works as my home defense rifle and will still shoot a 30 round mag without fail. It shoots into a 2" group at 100 yards all day long. It wasn't a collectible M1 to begin with, so no harm done to it's value. Some may not like it, but I love it. The pictures show how it looks, with one added to show how it used to look.

I've seen many videos of Grouse attracted to 4 wheelers. Something about the sound of the exhaust seems to attract them. Probably sounds a lot like the drumming of a male Grouse in spring to the female.

There are a lot of stupid people in the world, who have no idea they are digging their own graves. Muslims slaughter more than 1000 people in Christian churches all over the globe on a regular basis and none of these people even think about it. They use bombs, so it's OK. The Nobel prize has become a farce ever since Obama got it for doing nothing.

Animal Rights activists can often be easily identified because they love animals, and hate people. I wonder if she would protest a NYC rat hunting contest with a huge cash prize awarded to the person who kills the largest rat? I've already found three coyote killed deer carcasses on my land this season. There were hundreds of coyote tracks in the snow around the carcasses. In the spring, yotes will target newly dropped fawns and the yote hunting season will be closed. These contests are simply a yote management tool. They help keep yote numbers in check. I think the NY DEC is obligated to call this woman out on her clueless emotionalism, but alas, they never seem to step up when this type of thing occurs.

Thank god we have the Second Amendment
Rattler replied to Hunter007's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The New World Order elites want all firearms removed from the hands of their future subjects, but the ones they fear most are the ones they are banning right now. Notice how easy it is for one lunatic to destroy the freedom of all other citizens, with the blessings of the elected hacks who have sworn to protect and defend their freedoms. If not for our own 2nd Amendment and the Constitutional rights organizations that defend it, US citizens would be under the thumb of the New World Order elites as well. -
Pelosi has lost her mind

That's how they're certain they will vote for leftist Democrats. -

Sure hope I never go there. I mean there's ball bats right there for God's sake. LOL! -
Pelosi has lost her mind
Rattler replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This is simply a ploy to get more Democrat votes. The more immature the voter, the more likely they vote for leftist Democrats. If most young people voted for conservatives, Pelosi would be demanding they be prevented from voting. She supports requiring people to be 21 to drink or own a gun, but the future of the country can be entrusted to 16 year olds? -
Mossberg MC1 9mm semiautomatic pistol
Rattler replied to Water Rat's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
If it proves to be durable, reliable and accurate, it will be a big seller for Mossberg. If they have entered the market with a piece not worth the cost, they will disappear from the handgun marketplace very quickly. Knowing Mossberg well, I would expect they have created a winner here and it will find a receptive audience. -

What other ways would they do that? The media lies, the education system ignores the danger while it indoctrinates, the Democrats support the invasion and political correctness prevents free speech. Where did the smart enough ones get their info from? Besides, nobody is depending on these people for their info, though they do serve a purpose by putting a counter point out there. But punishing them for telling the truth is a form of tyranny to control speech, which is how you control what the smart enough people know. What she said is a hard truth and a fact. I find it scary she's the only one saying it. Maybe because the rest of the people who know it, are more concerned about protecting their paychecks then they are of protecting the citizens of the US.

Sounds like you two think Pirro is blowing smoke. I'm not surprised since the majority of the country seems to think it isn't coming. After the first Trade Center attack people were trying to warn us the terrorists were not going to quit. What was done to prevent 9/11/01? Nothing! Do you think they've quit now? To some people, America is more important than money. She's got enough to be set for life, unless the country is destroyed economically and figuratively. I believe she has priorities, and warning Americans what is going on is one of them. What concerns me is some people are trying to silence her. Does that concern anyone else?
-
Pirro isn't interested in more money. She's interested in defending America from an imminent threat the majority of the country seems too naive to see coming. She feels it's her duty as a free American to sound the alarm and demand action before it's too late. The fact she's being attacked for her thoughts, without any debate on the merits of her statements, proves we are in real trouble regarding the actual invasion by jihadists in this country. Sanctimonious feelings of moral superiority will not protect the innocent from jihadists. It isn't protecting them now, and it won't protect them in the future.

Calling the Judge's remarks "prejudice" is spinning it for the sake of political correctness. Here's the definition of prejudice: prej·u·dice /ˈprejədəs/ noun 1. preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. Considering the fact she is a Judge and has actual experience with jihadist crime, none of the things she said would amount to something she has not based on reason or actual experience. If she were telling you we should not be allowing wild tigers to roam the streets freely, would she be guilty of prejudice towards tigers? Pirro specifically refers to jihadists and radical Islamists. Radical Islam is infiltrating America. It isn't assimilating, it's invading. When we elect Islamist Congresspeople who make it their first order of business to attack American law, values and it's people, while supporting the Islamic jihadist invasion of America, we are encouraging them to continue on this path. Where do you think that path leads to? Judge Pirro is a very intelligent jurist and everything she has said is truth backed up by facts. If you allow people to take offense at truthful remarks in order to excuse their behavior, you are guaranteeing a lot more of this behavior in the future. Nobody in America, as far as I can recall, has ever condemned Muslims in the world for being Muslims. The Muslims being condemned are the ones that are jihadists bent on killing any other human being on this planet that isn't a Muslim. That's not a prejudice. That's self preservation and defense. It's time to stop with the politically correct BS and fix this problem the way it needs to be fixed, and that is with honest assessment and the effective action required.

Dick's Still Being Dicks
Rattler replied to jmark's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This is the result of heavy handed government coercion. Dick's is folding on the issue to avoid government oppression of firearms. Not defending their decision here. Just pointing out it's a bellwether for things to come regarding any business having anything to do with helping the public enjoy firearms, shooting or hunting. If you are not already aware of it, the government is pressuring many firearm related businesses, from many different angles, with many different tactics, in order to make dealing with firearms as dangerous as possible. It's doing the same thing to individual citizens who choose to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights for any reason, including hunting. We live in a free country. You're free to do whatever the government let's you do. And that is becoming less and less each day. -
Only At The Public Shooting Range........
Rattler replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
IMHO this would be a very bad thing. I know it seems like a good idea, but look at the bad side. Not all 1st time handgun buyers are clueless. A woman may need it right now to protect herself from a threat. The state could use this to prevent people from getting handguns by offering very few, and very infrequent classes. It could cost lots of money for the class. It goes a long way in making the right to own a firearm into a government granted privilege. I could go on. What this country needs is more personal responsibility and far less avoidance of firearm safety among the general public. Years ago, anyone could learn about firearms and safe handling of firearms, just about anywhere. The firearm safety problems we see among the public today, have been caused by the government's interference in the firearm culture in America. I see the absence of firearm safety training among the populace as a major negligence in their upbringing. However, the last thing I'd want to see is the government controlling it. -

Savage 99 Video- A Favorite Firearm!
Rattler replied to TenXTimmy's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Good video. My friend, who doesn't hunt, inherited a Savage 99 in .250-3000. His Dad called it "The Queen". I keep bugging him to sell it to me, and he keeps saying he will, but so far it has not come to pass. Very frustrating.
