The meat would spoil in a few hours. Especially that you are not supposed to kick up a wounded deer. Let them sit for a few hours until they bleed out. Not today !!!!!!!!

I believe fawns without mamma will become Coyote food. They definitely need mama for their 1st winter.

I didn't want to be known as a hunting statistic by having a massive heart attack in the woods. So I had my heart checked out. Stress test, etc, etc. Dr. gave me the ok to do some mountain climbing. Especially at 50 yo, huffing & puffing while walking around the block was making me nervous. I'm glad I had myself checked out. One less thing to worry about.

That is so COOL !!!!! Did you field dress him ??? Considering you never dressed a deer !!!! That is a great story. I shot my 1st deer on public land, and these 4 other guys came out of nowhere to see what I got. My hands were shaking. 1 guy helped me gut the deer, and then they all left in disgust because they always hunted there. then 1/2 hour later, I'm still dragging, another guy comes along, and helps me drag the deer up hill to the main trail. I offered him $100, and he refused !!!!!!!

2014 opening day, it was 65 degrees and sunny. My deer went in a tub of ice, for the 3 hour ride home to the butcher. The butcher told me, 1st time in his 30 years did anyone ever bring in a deer in a tub of ice. He told many deer's are rotten by the time he gets them, and he refuses to butcher them. Other butchers will butcher deer on a 70 degree day, and leave the meat laying out on a table until he feels like wrapping it.

Sounds like he was sniffing your sandwich. When you drag the bear, does the rug get destroyed ? Did you drag him on a drop cloth ?

What DMP is Sterling Forest ? I know 1/2 the park is AR, and the other 1/2 is not. Something like that.....

If I get one, I would make a rug. But I'm not sure if I would do a shoulder mount. How would you guys mount a bear ?

They get $1700 for a Canadian bear hunt over bait. And out west, it cost big money too. Just the tag is big bucks, never mind the outfitter. And in NY, it's basically free, but the odds of it happening are not too high.

I'm doing a guided Elk hunt. They recommend bringing game bags. Are they really that much thicker than good garbage bags??

I'd like to start a law suit. They cannot sterilize the deer without their consent. It's just not right. I'd throw in $100 for the legal fees.

It's a fully guided him, on private land, with meals & lodging. The private land is bordering public land.

Unit 70. $4000 for a 5 day guide. plus air, plus car, plus whatever else. It'll be well over $5000 if I get a trophy. Forgetting about money, how is unit 70 ?

They are all very cool, maybe except the zebra. But hey, whatever floats your boat. I would eat the zebra, just to check it out. What happens to all the meat ? Obviously you can't fly all of it back home ? Does it get donated ? Can you mount them, and ship them home ? or visa-versa? Probably took a lot of planning...

Any advice on where to go Elk hunting ? I read fair chase Elk hunting in CO or MO, is like a 4% chance of getting something. Not sure if it's worth spending $5000 to see nothing..
