Lol We are still bowhunting down here on the island. It doesnt end until December 31st then there is a month long shotgun season. I cant wait for next week, ill be out every day trying to get it done with the bow. John

I went out yesterday and I saw a lot of deer. Had one of the biggest does I ever saw directly underneath me for about twenty min. Then saw some more does a small 8 and a spike. The 8 was chasing all the does around so at least some bucks are still looking. I also jumped a real big buck bedded with a doe while taking a look around for sheds. no sheds but I did manage to find a dead 7 point. John

Just had a monster doe come under the stand. Stood there for about 20 min. Too bad i dont need thd meat. John

I have a truglo red dot scope on my shotgun and im going to switch to a regular scope. Dealing with batteries is a pain in the butt. And the two times i went to use the gun the red dot was barely visible in the woods. Im not sure if the cold/snow had anything to do with it but im def switching back to a regular scope for next season. Cant go wrong with a nikon scope either. John

Yea im def gonna keep at it but we have had a lot of different big bucks on trail cams and now none of them are showing up. We have 4 cams out in a small area and have most of the major travel routes covered. The sheds were all this seasons drops too. I heard of another guy finding a fresh one on the island a week ago also. Im thinking with the lack of food in the woods this year its been a tough fall for the deer amd they are starting to drop eariler than normal. John

Havent seen that car at any of the spots i hunt. Looks like all the big bucks have vanished from the farm i hunt. trail cam pics slowed down a lot in the past two weeks and all we are getting now is a small 8 pt that lives on the farm and some spikes. Im still going out on Sat morning but its not looking good for me right now. I also saw on another forum that somebody found 3 sheds on LI already so they are already starting to drop down here. One buck per year rule. This would work even for people who dont support AR's. And for the guys that hunt alot during both gun and bow it would make them think twice about shooting a spike or small buck b/c it would end thier season. John

I know of a few guys upstate that are the same way. They break every rule in the book so i guess it works both ways. There are both good and bad cidiots and country bumpkins lol. John

Yea im starting to think ill be out sat morning before she wakes up loll. At least when im off for the week in between christmas and new years she will be at work so i know ill be out then. I always see a lot of action the last week and last year i saw one of the biggest bucks of my life bredding a doe just out of range. I always look forward to the last week of bow on the island. John

Sorry to hear. I guess it happens sometimes. As for me ive been at it every free day since Oct 1st and i think its time to take a break this upcoming weekend. I need to spend some time with the girlfirend before i end up single lol. Im off from work in between Christmas and New years so i will get back out for a couple of days then. After 3 full days of hunting i decided to take this afternoon off. Saw 7 does and a soike this moning but the big boys never showed. Good luck this afternoon!!! John

Damm that sucks you should def go out and look around the area tomorrow you never know he could be laying dead somewhere around the area.

Usually take my thumb out of my glove to type. Got back in the stand around 2. Nothing yet. this is a much better morning spot but im limtied on choices on this property hopefully one of the bucks from this morning will come in tonight. John

Sounds like everybody is having a great morning. I jist came back in to rest for a few then im headed back out. Deer are def moving better and i think with the cold weather amd full moon te second rut is def starring to heat up.

Yea its crazy. Just had 9 does come under the stand with an 8 following them but he never came into range. Then i look behind me and 3 does come running by with a real big 7 pointer. Almost got a shot but one kf the does spotted me and they took off. Gonna sut tight for another few hours. John
