Lol they will prob all be at the Iowa deer classic this weekend. We were gonna go bu we are going to spend the tome shed hunting instead. John

In a few hours ill be leaving for a trip to Iowa. Im going with two of my friends to a farm out there to go shed hunting and scout for furture hunting when i am able to draw a tag. Im hoping to find some real good sheds and ill post pics when i get back!!! John

Yea they can be dangerous if not setup properly and if not using a saftey belt. I have been using a summit bushmaster stand for the last few years and have had not major problems. I recently bought a lone wolf hand climber with the sit strap and it is an awesome stand!!!! easy to setup and pack in. It is bascially like sitting in a lockon b/c there is no major bar around you on the top end. Great stand cant recommend it enough!!. John

Rich those deer are from upstate greene county. My friend got a trailcam puc of a nice 7 point the other day who still had his antlers down here on the island. I think its about 50/50 down here right now. John

We finally got a pic of a decent 2 1/2 year old 8 point that surived the season. He should be a nice buck this season. we also got a 5 point still holding onto his rack as of 2/4/12. John

I wish i could join you guys for a shoot but with the broken arm i dont know when i will be healed. If i am out that way i will def try to stop in to meet everyone though. John

Thanks Burt!! i didnt cut the horns off that buck b/c i forgot the hand saw that i usually carry in the car. Its in a spot where i dont think many people will be looking so i might go back for it in a month or two after some of the skin comes off. John

Yea i have two screws and some wire holding the bone together. Things seem to be going well other than the fact that i cannot straighten my arm. I am going to the doctor next week for xrays then going to try some physical therapy to try to get back to 100%. Probably won’t try shooting the bow until at least April. John

My Friend Charlie and I got together yesterday for a shed hunt. we started off around 7 am covering a piece of proprty by the farm we hunt where we think the deer are bedding. It was a pine area with real thick underbrush and a real tough spot to find sheds. We didnt find any there so we went to another spot close by which is a big field with ceders and pines mixed in and thats where i found the first one of the day. It was a fresh small 2 point side. At that point we searched around for the match but couldnt find it so we went to a different piece which was antother big overgrown field. Walking the edge Charlie saw a dead deer and it turned out to be a road kill with a weird rack It was about 10:30 and he had to leave so we walked back to house and i decided to hit a new spot by myself. It was a thick overgrown field with a small pond and real thick briars. About 20 min in i decided to get into the thick briars and i came across my second antler of the day a small 3 point side. After taking some pics and picking it up i began to search for the other side and about 2 min later i found a bigger one it was a 4 point side with a nice kicker off the g2 Now i was real pumped to have found 3 in one day so i searched around the pond some more and it lead me to a spot where i couldnt cross to get back to the car so i had to go back the way i came. I decided to give the spot another look for the match to the big one and about 50 yards from where i found it i found the match. At this point it was about 1:30 and it was getting warm and i kept pulling ticks off my pants so i decided to call it a day and head home. It was a great day out in the woods and after about 10 times out alteady im glad to finally have some antlers in my possession. Going back out this weekend so hopefully ill have something else to post when i get back. Good luck to everyone who is going out!! Oh here is the pic of them safe in my home lol. John

Congrats i went out with my brother today and he found his first ever a 3 point side. It was last years shed but the cool thing is i was out in the same area last year with my other brother and he found his first also which was the other side. John
