Still, I would have hit them for a lot more $ than that plus jail time. Bans mean nothing to a poacher. They were willing to illegally take deer anyway...why would you need a license to continue to illegally take deer?

Martin is referring to the Watershed lands which are owned by the city of New York thus not necessarily "public" per say. They're city owned and used for their reservoir system. Some sellers upstate will check, other don't. I've had some who asked for my DL to run the background check and the moment they saw that it was a NYC address on it, asked to see my permit. I've also had others who never checked. It all depends on the person and their knowledge of the law and how much they want to make it their business. As far as crossbows, it was mentioned to me before about it being illegal and I remember finding something about it online but now I can't seem to find anything about it. Has things changed? I tend to lean on the side of caution when there is uncertainty as I sure as heck don't want to have to lawyer up just to prove I'm innocent of any wrong doing.

I have thousands of dollars invested in a full frame DSLR, L-series lens, etc. Yet, most of my pictures are taken with my iPhone. I simply don't want to lug around all the heavy and expensive equipment on top of my hunting gear.
