  1. There's a ton of deer since it's bow only but there's also a lot of hunters due to proximity to the city. If you explore enough, you can find your little corner of the woods and the hunting will be good. It's also helps that it's less of a drive. For Putnam, I use a muzzleloader since I can use that for shotgun only areas as well as allowing me to extend into muzzleloader season. I just ordered a 20 gauge rifled barrel for my H&R Handi-Rifle but I'm still waiting for it to come in even though I ordered it over a month ago. I tried rifled slugs out of my smooth bore Mossberg 500 but my shots were going every where. I couldn't hit the board side of a barn even if I was standing in front of it.
  2. I mainly hunt Westchester and Putnam and their bow and shotgun only. I hunt in Orange County sometimes and they allow rifles there but I haven't had as much luck there.
  3. I know. He mentioned that he is new to hunting in NYS so I'm just helping to make him aware of the laws around here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Nothing for new for this year. Got everything I need and have to be more frugal with my money. Will be in San Antonio in March for a wedding so I'm looking to book a Javelina or Feral Hog hunt near there. That'll be my little gift to myself for this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Isn't Long Island shotgun only for deer? I never hunted on the island. I know Putnam is shotgun only and Westchester is bow only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I hunt mainly in Westchester and also some Putnam and Orange counties. We can go if you ever make it up this way.
  7. Yes...that's why it was banned and never actually aired but tell that wasn't funny?

Sorry. To clarify, I'm from NYC so by upstate, I mean anything north of NYC.

Welcome to the forum. Are you planning to sticking to Long Island or are you hunting upstate?
  10. One of my all time favorites... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1Z0Tv4eO0M
  11. Maybe she snuck onto the ferry. It would have dropped her off right there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hello

Welcome to the forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Cool. Would have liked to see the size of the fish it caught.
  14. What makes you think the people in the processing plant are eating the meat? They know what is going into it. They're trying to sell you trash hoping you don't realize it all in the name of money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I got one two years ago. Made for a great airgun target backstop.
  16. Just make sure you read the rules and regulations for the watershed lands. Each area have allow certain freedoms and restrictions. Still, they're pretty good and not overly crowded in some cases. Plus, if you live in Westchester, many are within a few minutes drive for you. Welcome to NY and welcome to the forum. Best of luck to your season. We might even bump into one another on a watershed land.
  17. You should get a watershed access permit since you live in Westchester. NYC owns large patches of land (reservoirs, etc) used to supply their water needs. They allow hunting and fishing on some of these lands. The permit is free. Westchester is bow only. http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/html/recreation/recreation_rules.shtml Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Notification email also includes repair number. You can go to their website, enter the repair number, and it'll give you a status update. Whatever that's worth. For the 1st week after the notification, every time I checked, it said that they received it and it's being processed. After a week, it reads a service/repair technician is working on your product. It has been at that status ever since.
  19. Apparently you can filter what shows up on the "Recent Topics" list. There's a section in your Personal Settings.
  20. I've never had a problem with mine. I sent it back mainly to keep whatever warranty on it alive. I don't want something wrong to happen and they turn around and say "we're not reliable since you never sent it in when we told you that you should." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Sent mine out early June. Received notification from them that they received it on 6/14. Still waiting for it to come back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I think the best thing to do is to expand the filters to include the "Recent Topic" section. I use the filters to block out certain threads that don't pertain to me (like Land Management for example since I don't own any land). While the filter removes these threads from my "View New Content" page, it does not remove it from the "Recent Topic" section which is why I don't bother checking the "Recent Topic" section. If they can expand the filter, then those who don't want to see political threads in their "Recent Topics" can just filter them out.
  23. When I click "View New Content" it always shows "Sorry, no new content". Then I click on "View New Content" again and all of a sudden all the new contents appear. I have to do this every time I log into the site.
