  1. Good. Knowing me, I kept wondering if I tossed it out thinking it was more junk mail.
  2. That sucks for you Pygmy. Reincarnated only to be shot and end up as a rug.
  3. What the hell...still waiting for my lifetime to show up. Normally we get it ahead of everybody else don't we?
  4. I got 20% so I'm ahead of you there.
  5. I come back as a horse. Is that better or worst?
  6. So true Doc. Many complain that it's a dying tradition but few actually put in the effort to try and teach others.

    Ammo

The Core Lokts I got from various places. The Game Kings are just bullets. They're for reloading. I ordered them from Midway USA. I haven't tried them out yet but it seems a lot of people who reload raves about them.

    Ammo

I use the 150 grain Core Lokts as well. Sub MOA at 100 yards. 2 inch group at 200 yards. Figure that's good enough for me in these woods. Though I did buy some Sierra Game Kings. Just haven't loaded any of them up yet.

    DMPs

You can apply to 2 different WMUs. Check the success rate of the WMUs you're applying for to help you strategize on which you want as your first choice and which you want as your second choice.
  10. 4 years. Self taught and a lot of advice from this forum.
  11. The area you're talking about (Hastings-On-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley) there is not hunting and the houses there are so packed together, you'll have to get permission from several houses to get your 500 feet clearance. Hastings-On-Hudson was one of those towns that was looking into sterilizing the deer as a solution.
  12. I suggest you do some scouting now when you can. You can buy the license but don't buy any DMPs until you've scouted and know where you're going to hunt. You have till Oct. 1st to buy DMPs.
  13. I have a red dot on my shotgun. So many times I had small game or crows fly by, I raise my shotgun, and realize I had the red dot turned off.
  14. Summer in NYC is a great time for "bird watching".
  15. Anyone receive their lifetime tags yet?

    Game Bag

Aren't game bags meshed to allow the meat to breathe and not spoil?
  17. The worst are the ones that wakes you up in the middle of the night.
  18. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/45415.html This map will let you know where you can hunt. There are other lands available as well but the state land is a decent place to start. You have to take your hunter safety course and your bow hunters safety course. Passing the course only gives you a certificate that allows you to buy the license. From there, you have to actually buy the license. You buy according to what (and in a way, where) you will be hunting. Westchester is bow only. Putnam County and Long Island is shotgun, muzzleloader, and bow but no rifles allowed. It really helps if you have a car. Here is a link to last years Hunting & Trapping Regulations Guide. I recommend you read it. This years edition isn't out till a couple of more weeks. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/37136.html
  19. One a scout once had 3 does eat their lunch 20 yards from me for 15 minutes before they noticed me. I was standing completely still like a statue wearing blue jeans, blue sweat shirt, face and hands uncovered. They only noticed me when my legs got tired and I moved a little. Still out of habit, I wear a mask and gloves when I bow hunt.
  20. Another 250 grain shockwave user. 100 grains of 777. Dead accurate out to 100 yards. I'm also a firm believer of one shot-one kill.

    Bear

The one and only time I ever saw a bear was 2 years ago. It was just sitting up along the side of a highway as I drove by in Orange County. I slowed down to take a look as I passed by. Pretty decent sized fellow.
