  1. I have the wooden dowel in my shotgun which limits it to 2+1 in the chamber. This is a requirement for waterfowl hunting. I'm just too lazy to remove it and I never anticipate needing more than that to take down a deer.
  2. Hahaha...what is it with us 3rd year guys who haven't taken any deer? Well, technically, I'm a 2nd year guy since the first year, I picked up my first gun in November so I didn't hunt big game. Welcome aboard fadetoblack. I also hunt mainly the 3N, 3M, 3P areas and know your frustrations. Like early said...scout, scout, scout. You ever see those optically illusions where you just stare and stare at it and then all of a sudden, you see the hidden image? It's like that. I kept looking for signs, stared at area maps of the area you saw the signs, and then all of a sudden, I saw the picture. Figured out what the deer weere doing. Of cause that's all during the early bow. If I was allowed to shoot them with a gun and had the right DMPs, I would have filled a couple of freezers by now. Gun season rolls around and it's a whole new ball game. I still haven't figured that out yet. Someone told me "normally, you hunt by trying to predict the deer's natural behavior. new NYC during the gun season, you hunt by trying to predict how the deer is going to react to the other hunters who are trying to shoot them." But since I only have one big game gun season under my belt and I haven't taken anything yet either or remotely come close so take my advice with a grain of salt.
  3. Been itching to head back into the woods since i haven't gone hunting in a while. I always try to avoid the orange army that's at it's worst when on public land so close to the city so I decided to check out the bow only areas. Jumped a doe on the way in and saw another maybe 80 yards out but nothing else.
  4. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Mad-Bomber-Mens-Supplex-Bomber-Hat-with-Grey-Fur-Blaze&i=442660 Warm as hell.
  5. I stopped buying Wonderbread as well. Quality has really gone down hill. Every loaf I was buying was dry. Almost like school cafeteria bread. Now I buy Martin's Potatoe Bread and if not, then Pepper Ridge Farms.

    bow/ml tags

No you cannot. Scroll 2 pages down and look under the section "Deer Tag Types and Privileges" http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8305.html
  7. Union got a little too greedy...now, instead of getting a raise, they're out of a job. On a side note, the comsumer base has changed in the last 10 years as people are starting to become more health conscience but Hostess hasn't adjusted one bit to meet these changes. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I bought a Hostess product.
  8. CVA Wolf 250 grains TC Shockwaves 100 grains of 777 pellets CCI primer Brand new...haven't even shot it yet. Would greatly appreciate comments and critiques on this setup.

    3M - Where?

Normally I would do the same thing but my DMP is there so I might show up the second week hoping it'll calm down a bit.
  10. I know for sure in NYC you can't just shoot at someone just for being on your lawn. I'm pretty sure the same applies to Westchester.
  11. How's the 45-70 treating your shoulder and how's it treating the deer? Been thinking of adding the guidegun to my collection as well.
  12. I'm never worried about the 4 legged ones. If you stay out of their way, they leave you alone. It's the 2 legged ones I'm worried about. They're unpredictable.
  13. Forget being able to carry a gun legally...how about seeing daylight? He just intentionally shot someone in the face and admitted it...he's going to jail for long time.
  14. I would have had a couple of harsh words with that guy.
  15. For rifle areas, Remington 700 with Nikon ProStaff 3-9X40 with 150 grain Remington Core Lokt. For shotgun areas, Mossberg 500 12 gauge smoothbore with red dot using Winchester Super X rifled slugs. Just got a muzzleloaders and I haven't even shot it yet. It's a CVA Wolf with a Bushnell Dusk and Dawn 1.75-4X32 shotgun scope using 777 pellets and TC 250 grain shockwaves.
  16. I wonder that myself. Never got around to checking since I have not sold anything yet but that might chane soon as I do have one rifle I don't really use.
  17. They already have. The high cost is why I can't get a pistol permit. My point is that it sucks and I'm totally against it and I will fight it through any LEGAL means necessary.
  18. What I mean by that is during the 1700's will lived under tyranny. Now, we live under a democracy.
  19. The original question was should all firearms be registered or not? I took it as what would you do if you're required to register all your firearms, what would you do? I am not the only one who misinterpreted the question it seems. Going back to the original question then, I have no problem with registering my firearms. It has not prevented me from obtaining any firearms that I want legally. It is the fact that certain firearms are considered illegal which has prevented me from purchasing some firearms. If they made those guns legal so as long as I registered them, I would not have a problem with that. Having your guns registered can be beneficial. I.e. theft, etc. The down side to it (besides the minor administrative hassle) is that "big brother is watching" and "they can take my guns away". Which again, I find to be unfound because again the real blow is when they make all guns illegal; not forcing them to be registed.
