  1. Faihasan - I believe Lorenzo mentioned he isn't old enough to own a firearm.
  2. Romney was trying to state the fact that Obama never called the attack an act of terror during the Rose Garden speech. Candy Crowley cut Romney off and said that Obama did use the words "act of terror" but the truth was he didn't call the attack an "act of terror". When he said act of terror, he was speaking generally and not specifically to that attack. Obama words during the Rose Garden speech was "we won't let acts of terror go unpunished." By cutting in, Obama never actually responded to Romney's accusation before Crowley steer the conversation to another question. It was like Romney came at Obama with some punches and Crowley rung the bell.
  3. Between Obama's constant pauses and Romney's stuttering, it was hard for me to keep focus. All I could remember was Obama dodging the questions, Romney's "binder full of women" comment, and Candy Crowley saving Obama's behind with the "he did in fact say act of terror" lie.
  4. Didn't see the first debate but saw some of last nights debate. Man, Romney is a horrible speaker. This is one of the worst elections ever. It's like trying to pick who is going to kick you in the groin.
  5. oreos over twinkies? I guess you forgot about "Zombieland".
  6. I agree, AR15 is best for the SHTF situations but the original question is A: Can a 22LR kill a zombie and B: What will be your zombie gun.

  8. The last time I was in a zombie apocalypse... Seriously though, all kidding aside. Zombies are made up and if there ever will be such a thing than we can only speculate what they really will be like and what their vulnerabilities will be. With that said, if zombies were to actually exists and they're identical to the majority agreed upon charateristics of those found in popular movies/shows such as "Night of the Living Dead" or "Walking Dead" then all that is required is to damage the brain. If that is the case, then Max Brooks who wrote the popular book "The Zombie Survival Guide" gave a very compelling argument in favor of the Ruger 10/22. His argument is that your goal should not be to engage zombies unless truly necessary. You also don't want to cause a lot of noise to attract other zombies to your direction. The 22LR with a silencer will be quiet enough to take out a zombie in reasonable poximity without attracting other zombies hundreds of yards away. The 22LR might not have enough energy to penetrate the skull of a zombie a 100 yards away but if the zombie is 100 yards away, it is simpler to just avoid them. Lastly, the 22LR is readily available and you can literally carry thousands of rounds with out it weighing a ton.
  9. To legally hunt with an airgun it has to produce a minimum of 600 fps of velocity with a pellet at least .17 in caliber. I know you can hunt with an air rifle that meets these minimum requirements but I'm not completely positive you can use an air pistol. Regardless, the 1322 doesn't meet the minimum 600 fps requirement.
  10. While I still won't eat city squirrel, I would imagine they aren't that much different from wood squirrels. If you really stop to watch a city squirrel carefully, they're not really feeding out of trash bins. They're still munching on acorns. Only the occasional peanut handouts are different. You see squirrels in city parks but never in an alley behind restaurants waiting for the trash.
  11. Np - that's what we're here for.
  12. Don't try to kiss the deer.
  13. I came across a lot of hate towards CVA products particularly from Randy Wakeman. Presenting a lot of cases of CVA guns exploding and causing injury. Any thoughts on this? Was it simply a smear campaign? CVA had a recall back in the mid-90's but the most recent case I saw was in 2008.
  14. Those who thought it was cool in the 90's and now still can't quit.
  15. Morally and health conscience eaters are the biggest wave of new wave of hunters.

  17. Training a dog to hunt is an art in itself as well as a joy for some people. Having a dog is increases your success by a ton but it isn't absolutely required. If you're going to hunt ducks, most of the time you'll find them near water which makes having a dog that can retrieve the duck extremely helpful. The stick is called a shotgun plug. You can find it on amazon or Dick's, etc. Just google search "shotgun plug".
  18. I bought some from the Dicks in White Plains last season without a problem but it doesn't surprise me that they might start doing it now.
  19. On the contrary. During the 80's having a mink fur coat was a symbol of wealth. Everyone wanted to have a fur coat. After PETAs smear campaign, people have turned away from fur coat and started adopting faux fur or no fur at all. You don't see people walking down the streets with full length fur coats as much anymore.
  20. Would love a pistol license but the renewal cost is become too prohibitive for me to get one. Damn you NY!
  21. If Otis Pike is anything like West Point then you just have to go to the check in station in the morning, let them know you're going to be in there (they'll want record your hunting license #, etc) and then when you're done, you go back and let them know you're done. This way they know who is in the park and when. I hear the small game hunting in Otis Pike is good. Been meaning to check it out but never find the time. Also, if you see waterfowl and want to take a crack at it you must get a duck stamp and register with HIP first. To shoot at waterfowl, you must have a stick in your shotgun that will limit the number of rounds your gun can carry to 3. 2 in mag, one in chamber. I would also go with something heavier than #6 for waterfowl. They recommend #2 for ducks and BB for geese. I shot a Canada Geese with #6 steel shot before. It shrugged it off like it was nothing and all I did was injure it. A mistake I've learned and will never repeat again.
  22. I wear liner socks, then wool socks, then insulated boots and I'm toasty.
