Holy smokes. Beauty of a buck!

Wishing a very, very warm 'Thank you!' to TF for this awesome beer mail assortment. After a long week, this was a real pleasure to unwrap. It's like the 12 Days of Beer Christmas all in one! All brews are new to me so this should be fun. The Westbrook Mexican Cake is one I've been trying to find locally with no success.

Love that one. I think it's better than the 2017 release.

All jokes aside, that takes grit to crawl your way back to the truck, stay in the game and flag down help. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

LIVE From The Woods 2018 - Lets hear stories and see some pictures!

Adding insult to injury, they avoided me in the huntable area (no fur seen), but one was back feeding in the neighbor's garden when I got home! There is also deer poop on my front walkway. Fantastic.- 10374 replies

They circled back to my neighbors garden and busted me coming out of the garage. :/- 10374 replies

Thank you. I never could have imagined what the next 16 years would be like when I picked Jake (or he picked me) from that litter of 6 adorable yellow lab pups jumping in my lap.
-
Fortunately, we have 2 rescue dogs, Mindy and Brody. They both paused and were totally still and silent at the moment Jake passed. I have no words to explain it.
-
So sorry, MPH! Hard not to get choked up again reading about your Jake. Sounds like both our Jake's were huge parts of our families. It was an agonizing decision for me too. I can only hope it was the right one, but I won't know until my day comes too. He went peacefully at home, that's the only part I feel good about for now.

Thank you. My 'likes' privileges are still revoked, but that is a good brew from what I've heard here. Is it really better to "Drink from the can!"?

Thank you everyone. I'm still out of likes to attach a thank you like to each of your heart-felt messages. Every one of them is greatly appreciated.

I didn't want his last memories to be the fear and anxiety of a visit to a cold vet's office. No offense, their facilities are not designed to mimic the comforts of a loving home. All I can say to other pet owners is that this whole gut-wrenching process was made better by performing the service at home. Jake was at peace most of the night and all throughout the day until the very end. Much love and comfort to you and your family, mowin. I also hope our dogs are both enjoying a great time in their new forever home.

Out of likes, but yes, his quality of life definitely declined. We spent the past 4 months doing laundry 2-3 times a day after changing out his bed sheets. He just wasn't able to get around and do his normal dog stuff. Then in the middle of the night he'd sometimes bark or whimper if we weren't downstairs with him. However, his appetite never waivered and his spirit was always strong. I felt he deserved every chance to live we could give him despite the hardships.

Aw man, you know this all too well. I'm out of likes to thank you for sharing your story, but yes, the travel vet made a huge difference. She was awesome really. As for hand feeding Jake his treats, I'm happy to still have 10 fingers!

It was really tough, Rob. Throughout the year, Jake's mobility decreased. We tried galiprant to minimal effect in Aug/Sept. From that point, I would pick up his back end and 'wheelbarrow' him outside to do his business several times a day. He had already lost his bladder control by that point, but we did what we could. About 2-3 weeks ago, he couldn't even stand on his own and I knew it was time to face the inevitable decision. Choosing this particular vet to come to the house for final accomodations proved to be the best way for us to honor Jake and say our goodbyes. We all camped out in the living room last night and spoiled Jake and the other pups with treats of salmon, cheese and bacon. It's been a tear-filled day for all of us, but Jakey is now at peace. I know we'll meet again one day, no doubt in my mind.

I would also like to thank TF and grampy for their personal messages these past two difficult months. I truly appreciate all of your support behind the scenes, so to speak. Also, thank you Otisco Paul for the kind words sent via pm. This forum is filled with 'salt of the earth' type people.

So sorry mowin! I know exactly how you feel; I just said goodbye to my best friend today too.

This afternoon I said a tear-filled goodbye to my best friend, Jakey Dog. Always a puppy, Jake gave me and later my family, 16 years filled with love and great memories. Everyone loved Jakey, even people afraid of dogs. You were the best dog ever! You're in heaven now, my love, where I will see you again and give you a million more ear scratches. Jakey passed peacefully at home in front of the fireplace (his favorite spot), surrounded by his loving "pack". I am very thankful for Dr. Melanie from Lap of Love making the hardest decision of my life, the most compassionate experience we ever could have asked for. Sleep in heavenly peace, Jakey Dog.

Lots of great glass already mentioned. It really comes down to personal budget and "must have" requirements. I moved a NF 2.5-10x32mm to my deer rifle and couldn't be happier. Both deer dropped last year were fast movers that came into my field of view and paused just long enough to make an accurate shot. I definitely credit the NF scope for the quick target acquisition.

Thankfully, our Second Amendment Right doesn't give a flip what you think about semi-auto firearms in common use.
-
First, there is no companion bill in the ASSembly (yet) so this isn't going anywhere. Second, can anyone else tell me which constitutional Rights are dependent upon government 'thought police' deeming whether or not you are worthy to have them? Didn't think so. I'll hold back my horses until Princess Andy's un-SAFE 2 rears its ugly head.

One of my favorite movies is Last of the Mohicans. Knowing that the movie is set in the Adirondacks, it was pretty surprising to see NC listed in the credits for the filming location! I've got to do some hiking down there sometime, the scenery is spectacular.

Love the Adirondacks, hate the taxes and politics! However, my daughter's mother will not cooperate on custody at all if I move now. So it looks like another 5 years hard time in Newyorkistan for me. On the plus side, I spend a lot of time in my professional life advising people on retirement plans and tax shelter strategies. Needless to say, there is no shortage of New Yorkers who want to pay less taxes. lol
