Awesome buck! Congrats!
-
Was it on the news or anything? I used to rent a house that had multiple slug holes in the back garage wall and windows.
-
It works fine for me. I dont go to camp anymore anyhow, but that had nothing to do with the change in opening day.
-
Actually, the lower back/sides area is much more effective. They have those Thermacare lower back and hip heat wraps. Try one on a cold day sometime. Once the weather gets below about 20 degrees, Ill put one on, my Under Armour base layer, then my Predator insulated overalls and jacket with a skull cap and Im good to go all day. Maybe Ill drop the foot warmers in if it gets to where my feet get cold.

Congrats!

Again, shooting at or shooting a deer is illegal. I can hunt yotes, coons, etc all night long. Dont believe me? Read the regs, email DEC, call them, whatever you want.
-
Couldn't agree more
-
Good point. I'd rather not look at it like that though. We're all hunters and the only subculture we should be pointing a finger at are the poachers. The ones that shoot deer at night, use others tags, don't report their kills, bait, etc. Also the guys that throw safety to the wind and end up shooting others, shooting property, buildings, equipment, etc. Those names listed in the papers and shown on the news are the ones that truly give hunters a bad name. The one that "might" impact the image of hunting also "might" impact it in a positive way or not at all. The arrogant, pretentious one definitely affects the image in a negative way, both to non hunters and hunters alike. There was an article written by Oak Duke that was posted in one of the AR threads, and he made a good point in there about how hunting is seemingly driving the average Joe out now days. The arrogant, pretentious, you aren't a real hunter attitude displayed in this thread is one of the reasons for that trend.

Hang on a second. I said it was ethical because it's legal. I also said its not as easy as some perceive it to be. I don't have a problem with it where it's legal. That's all. I'm not getting sucked into the high fence vortex. I just told you the basics of my feelings on it lol. How's your gun season going so far? Spent any time out my way in the park since bow season?
-
Wait a minute, who defended someone doing something stupid? People are going after your generalizations and attitude toward others that dont share your hunting style. Let it sink in this time before you reply.
-
While i dont particulary care for the high fence thing, and dont think all of it can be called hunting, my problem with the industry is the transportation and disease issues, but thats really for another thread, and i think weve beaten that horse to a pulp this year, dont you? : )
-
Your attitude is bad for the sport
-
No, your high horse is if someone doesnt hunt like you, they are less of a hunter, or a slob. Because someone smells like gas or sees less deer gives "us" a bad name? Really? Ever hear of playing the wind? You could smell like a sewer and kill a deer if you play the wind. Also, you are saying that anyone that sees less deer or sees running deer off in the distance takes pot shots at them? Laughable. Try to spin it however you want, you said what you said. You keep proving me right on it with every reply.
-
Not at all. Ive explained my views on that plenty of times, but feel free to portray it differently than Ive explained it.
-
Who cares?
-
Bull. Your sentiment was plain as day when you said "gun hunters....." Im not defending "slob hunters", Im defending hunters. If someone wants to smoke cigs, pump gas and go out hunting one weekend per season and follows all of the regs, and is safe with what hes doing, then I have no problem with that person. Maybe you should get off your high horse and stop bashing people that dont hunt the way you do.
-
Sub-culture? So according to you, people that dont bow hunt, and only gun hunt are a sub-culture? Who gives a damn how many weekends someone has to dedicate to hunting, if they smoke, etc they are still a hunter, and you snubbing your nose to them, degrading them, etc regardless if they are breaking any law or not is the win for the antis. It means we are not sticking together, and are giving up what strength our numbers give us.
-
Good lord...there is no law or regulation that states you cant have a gun in the dark, or have it loaded in the dark, or be in your stand with it loaded in the dark. Its illegal to shoot a deer before or after legal hours. Thats it.

Congrats on a great doe! 10 points! -
Ive been using ScoutLook for a few years now. Its a great App. I dont bother with any of the others.

Sitting here reading the comments about bow hunters being more ethical, and "gun hunters....." makes me really sad for this sport. Instead of calling out the bad apples, generalizations are made, and you basically divide us based on the weapon we are using vs what type of a hunter we are. Stuff like that is a win for the antis. Some of you are your own worst enemy and dont even realize it.

Might be more cost effective to have a local farmer come in and do the tilling, then you can hand seed and have him drag it in. -

First deer ever for me on opening day! She was the last of 3 to come through some thick cover 100 yards away. I caught her in an opening and my 308 laid her out.- 45 replies
