I might know someone with a couple lbs of that....

Thats why setting the rules for the contest rather than based off of state rules is the best way to go, especially if you are dealing with multiple states.

Boone and Crockett defines it as 1 inch. Im not sure if theres a DEC regulation on that.

Great buck! Congrats!

Its a bolt gun, dont bother with paying to bore sight it. Put the scope on, take the bolt out, look down the bore and center an object about 25 yards away in it. Line the scope up to the same object. Should get you close at 50 yards. I have used that with two bolt rifles and it worked both times. Got me within a few inches on the first shot.

Glad you came through ok. Ive heard of that happening with rotten trees. Theres a name for it but I cant remember off the top of my head. That stuff can be dangerous.

Cross-cut or Separated Muscle Groups?
WNYBuckHunter replied to raredesign's topic in Deer Processing
I separate them. As Uncle Nicky said, you cant remove all or most of the silverskin, etc if you are cross cutting, so you will end up with that gamey taste some people complain about. -
DETAILS BURT! WE NEED DETAILS!!!!!

is it just a combo safe or is there a key cylinder on it as well?

You are exactly right, and I dont think that all of the scent free stuff I go through will ever get rid of my scent completely. I do however believe that it significantly reduces it, and more than likely, causes the deer to interpret that what they are smelling is alot further away than it really is.

Great shot wooly

I use the scent killer clothes wash, and before I do a load in the dryer with the scent free dryer sheets, I get a towel that has been washed in scent free, and soap it up with scent free detergent and water, and wipe down the inside of the dryer, including the door. If you have a lint trap inside and not on top of the dryer, clean that out as well. Then I dry a load of towels washed in scent free before I do my hunting clothes. Works great. Had deer downwind from me all this past weekend. No issues.

Possibly the biggest buck ever killed on camera
WNYBuckHunter replied to LuckyPickle123's topic in Deer Hunting
You can yammer on all you want about "bloat smell" and that a deer goes bad overnight in near freezing temps, but you are wrong. Its proven every year by many guys that let deer expire over night. Fact of the matter is, you made a completely assinine, judgemental statement without knowing all of the facts. Then you did a tremendous job at reinforcing the initial impression that you presented. Kudos. -
I know why they did what they did with wild boars. It makes no difference if the animals are indigenous or not, if they have enough reason to shut down the farming of a particular animal, they will find a way to do it. BTW, I said nothing about renaming deer, I said reclassifying it as far as farming is concerned.
-
From what I have read, its pretty much been proven that deer dont hear much better than we do. They can turn their ears, so they can hone in a bit faster and more accurately though. I use my phone all the time with deer right under my stand.
-
If they really want to, they will. All they have to do is reclassify Whitetail deer as some other type of livestock or something along those lines, and they can pinch you right out. Seriously, if you think your industry is out of reach, you are deluding yourself.

You are not a farming industry that sustains mass food production. Don't get too big for your britches. Look at what NY just did with wild boar recently.

WNYBuckHunter's Outdoor Journal

Here's a few pics from last weekend. First one is a cool shot of the waterline left from some of the flooding this past summer. Looks cool when you are walking through the woods. The next couple are the young buck from Sunday afternoon.
