I dunno, we plan out our drives too. It doesnt really work if you are just making people walk through the woods willy nilly.

I thought it was getting pretty funny when he was in the living room talking about taping cameras to the guns. Talk about redneck engineering. All you need is bubble gum and duct tape lol.

Decent light for predator hunting
WNYBuckHunter replied to Woodjr55's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I use a rechargeable Cyclops spotlight. It works great, is pretty small and light weight and you can see your critters at 100 yards. It comes with a red filter, but its an LED light, with a blueish tint, and it doesnt scare the critters off without the filter. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunting/Hunting-Outfitters-Camp/Lights/Spotlights|/pc/104791680/c/104757480/sc/104743080/i/104599080/Cyclops-Sirius-500-Spotlight/1397767.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FN%3D1110239%26WTz_l%3DSBC%253BBRprd728896&WTz_l=SBC%3BBRprd728896%3Bcat104599080 -
Who was defending anything about the second video? I must have missed that part. I will say though, shooting a deer head on with a gun is a perfectly viable shot. Hunting with a smooth bore shotgun is a perfectly viable option. Doing deer drives does not always equal unsafe shooting, or spray and pray tactics. Pick just about any subject, and I bet I can find a youtube video of someone doing said action unsafely. Just throwing a video out there and making blanket statements based on the actions of a few is pretty silly.

Yeah, but that could be said about any legal weapon out there. Its not just inexperienced hunters either. Lots of guys push their limits, as well as their weapon's limits.
-
Yes, it has the Tritium sights
-
Just have to keep your shots in close with them. They work just fine as long as you keep within their limitations.

Actually, if you were trying to be helpful instead of being an ass, you could have PM'ed me or one of the other guys and said "hey, I think this thread is in the wrong spot.", but instead you acted the way you did. You dont want to read Grow's threads, then dont read them, but dont jump into them and start crapping on them because what she does bothers you. This is all I am going to say on the subject on the forum, if you wish to discuss it further, shoot me a PM.

What do rear sight have to do with anything? Never shot a single bead? Quite a few deer dropped to my Mossberg 500 with the 26" smooth bore modified choke barrel and Remington Sluggers. A few that were on the move in that number....
-
Lmao i have a hard time resisting it too. Reminds me, its about time to make another batch lol

Awwwwwww how sweet

Thats exactly how it should be when its done. I dont bake it, thats silly. Take all of it and put it in a zip loc bag and seal it overnight. It will help to distribute what moisture is left in the meat, and it will be better.

I was being a smart ass
-
What if you shoot a nice buck thats been pushed to you?
-
Joseph was talking about being in on the target shooting. Are you in or no? If you are we can start figuring the details out.

I never told anyone what to think, i told you that saying what if this and what if that isnt relevant. What happened is what happened, and there was nothing unsafe about it. You could say what if this or what if that until you are blue in the face, but it doesnt change the facts of what we are talking about. You saying shooting down into the ground is more unsafe than shooting at a deer on the same plane with a somewhat unknown background is about the dumbest thing youve ever said on here. But ya know, throw another accusation out there. Its your mo.
-
No attack, nothing personal, just saying its an irrelevant question, but hey, might as well toss the accusation out there.
-
And what if Germany had won WW2? The answer has about as much bearing on the conversation as yours.
-
Most of the time, we do our drives with the shooters in stands for exactly those reasons. If we are on the ground, we will let deer go past us so we are shooting in the opposite direction from the drivers, or if you are a driver, let the deer loop around behind you before you shoot. Its all about taking safe shots and being aware of where everyone is. Nothing unsafe goes on with our drives, ever.
-
Ive never thought i shouldnt have taken a shot, but i have thought about what i could have done to have taken the shot and not missed what i was aiming for. Im not going to take a shot that i think is low percentage to begin with.
-
Ask him, hes here.
-
I know you didnt say that, you said he wasnt a sportsman. Ive shot running deer, i always knew my background, i was confident in the shots and they have worked. Its all relative. Do I agree with unloading on a deer booking it through the woods or across a field? Not really, but thats not what happened in this case.

The antis dont even need this stuff for their fight. They use the cleaned up warm and fuzzy type pics against us. And i know some neutrals that dont want to see any of it, cleaned up pics or this type of thing. I only said that most neutrals i know arent that close minded to the realities of deer hunting.
-
We werent talking about neutrals. But just to play along with the new spin, i doubt theres anything on that video that would turn a neutral into an anti. Most neutrals i know understand that deer hunting isnt warm and fuzzy all the time. They know what happens to the deer.
