  1. Cocked, locked and ready to rock for self defense. Pretty pointless to carry otherwise.
  2. 1 PM at the Cottage Hotel? They might have been the only people in there besides the staff. Its a po-dunk townie bar. I agree though, not the place to be flashing your piece.
  3. Sounds about right for the Cottage...its more of a bar than a restaurant.
  4. My truck is by far the most versatile and able vehicle Ive owned. More power than I know what to do with, ok gas mileage for what it is, can toss anything in the back, enough room for 4 or 5 adults, and with decent tires, I havent figured out how to get it stuck doing normal things.
  5. Dont hang your stands so that the platform is angled sloping away from the tree, and you wont have to worry about water getting in the tube or not draining. I leave all of mine out all year. I check them in the spring and again in the fall before season. If they are in need of touching up, etc, I take them down and fix them up. I swap straps out about every 3 years. Havent had to replace any of the cables on the hang ons yet, but when I do, Ill use chain instead of the cable. If any rust occurs on the stands, the area gets coated with POR15. Never have to worry about it again.
  6. Im not sure how it works, but the thruway charges you by axle, and when i got my ezpass i had to list how many axles i had. You might need to get another one to use when towing.
  7. Just so everyone knows, I will not sell just the scope and rings. I will keep them for my next rifle if someone doesn't buy the whole package.
  8. The background checks wont be put into place right away, but internet and catalog sales are no longer legal after that date IIRC. Bubba could tell you for sure, hes pretty up on the details.
  9. Thanks. BTW, that scope has a fully transferable lifetime warranty on it.
  10. http://www.noble.org/ag/research/usinggps/ "Many people believe that moon phase has a dramatic impact on deer movement; however, the data collected throughout our study indicate that moon phase had no effect on movements of deer of either sex."
  11. Theres a whole bunch of them. Just google Deer GPS studies and look at the QDMA articles I posted. Those studies the QDMA talks about arent the only ones that have been done, and there are some others that are ongoing as we speak.
  12. Heres a few that I know off the top of my head. I found some others a couple of times through Google as well. Cant find them in my bookmarks though. Ill see if I cant find them again. http://www.qdma.com/articles/is-the-lockdown-phase-a-myth http://www.qdma.com/articles/10-things-we-know-about-mature-buck-movements http://www.qdma.com/galleries/rut-related-buck-movements
  13. Yeah Im not sure how any of them can really refute it any longer. Ill see if I can dig up some links, Ive posted some of them before.
  14. Im putting my Remington 700 SPS-V up for sale. Its a 223 with the 26" Bull Barrel. 1:12 twist. It is a tack driver with 55 grain Hornday Vmax factory loads. Currently it has Weaver Grand Slam rings and a Vortex Crossfire 4-16x50 illuminated reticle scope. The rifle has between 5 and 6 hundred rounds through it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this rig. Bare rifle - $500 With rings and scope - $650 Buyer pays any fees.
  15. Look into the current GPS studies. They put GPS collars on different deer, and they know where they are every X number of minutes. Shows you exactly what they are doing 24/7. Those studies are showing that the moon has little to nothing to do with movement patterns. The studies have been done in the North and the South, with the same results.
  16. That magazine just cant give up their moon theories, even when the GPS studies are showing that the moon doesnt have much to do with it. Nah, never mind that, heres some old studies to "back it up", we need to sell more moon phase calendars. hahaha
  17. There are other states that give land owners tax breaks and other incentives to allow people access to the land for hunting. NY isnt exactly the capital of tax breaks though.
  18. I saw a ton of them on the farms I hunt this year during bow season. We kicked up a bunch of woodcock too.
  19. Im not sure, but once he is no longer active duty, the rifle cannot remain here. Well, as long as the SAFE Act stands it cant.
  20. Ive tried a bunch of weight bullets. 55s shoot the best for me. You can write match bullet on the box all day, but the key is matching the bullet with the barrel twist rate. Heres a chart for you to look at. 75gr is too heavy for a 1:12 barrel. http://www.shilen.com/calibersAndTwists.html
