He was in a stand shooting at a pretty good downward angle, or did you miss that fact? Since when are these deer fawns? Looked like adult does to me, at least the first two, I didnt take note of the other ones. And just for the record, most people get shot due to misidentification of the target for various reasons, not because they caught a stray bullet while someone was shooting at running deer.

Im not much into the video thing, so i have to agree with you on that. Saying someone isnt a sportsman for participating in a drive, or killing 4 deer, well, I simply disagree. As long as its legal and hes not intentionally making the deer suffer unnecessarily, theres nothing wrong with it IMO.

We dont need balloons in the wind, that dont move like a running deer, simply a target duct taped inside an empty tire. We can roll it down hill past you and you do your best to hit it. We can get a few guys together and see if you out shoot them at the same task. Ill even play along. You win, ill buy the steaks and beer, you lose, you buy. You in? If so, we can start planning it out. I know a good spot do do it safely.

Bubba, i have no problem with someone saying they dont want to do what he did, or that they dont like shooting at moving deer, etc. Like I said, my problem is with those that get up on their high horse and start bashing fellow hunters.

As a LEO, you should have noticed the background in that video. Shooting a moving deer is no different than any other time, be sure of your background first. So in your almighty opinion, someone that shoots a running deer is a bad hunter. Got it.

Hero worship? Good lord Doc, no one is claiming the guy to be a hero. If that is what you are getting from this, you should go back and read. The big deal is a bunch of people saying the guy is unethical, a loser, a slob hunter, an animal abuser, etc. Its BS. I get really tired of listening to those types bash fellow hunters over the head with a shovel, just because they do something differently than the way they would. Even if there are no rules broken, no animals made to unnecessarily suffer, no safety issues, etc. To me its the same thing as the guy that cuts someone down for shooting a small buck.

Oh ive made bad shots and lost deer. Ive never taken one in the rain. Never would. Sorry, but you sitting here slamming someone for making good shots on deer, while you made a piss poor choice on a shot on a deer and lost it, just recently, doesnt fly.

If you cant predict where the bullet will hi the deer, then you dont have the skill to take a running shot. Wanna put your money where your mouth is?

So deer pile up in 15 yards on a non fatal shot and die from it in less than 30 seconds right? I seriously think you need to watch it again, especially the slow motion part. Deer number one was hit double lung, probably got the top of the heart too. It went down, got back up, did a 15 yard scramble and piled up. Deer two was shot in the spine, went down and crawled about 5 yards as he shot deer 3 and 4 which he said dropped right away. He then finished off deer two. Ill take those shots all day over a shot at a deer in the rain with a bow.

I never said that about you. If you dont want to do it, then thats your choice, good for you. He killed the first one he shot with a perfect lung and probably heart shot. A deer doesnt go 15 yards and pile up from a non fatal wound lol. They were all good shots. Were you watching the same video? Im not getting upset, but it sure sounds like you are.

Your best bet is to knock on doors and be ready to have them closed in your face, and lots of no answers. Ive been hunting these areas all my life, and access is not easy to find, and is rarely cheap. Even finding predator spots isnt easy. You may find it better to get in with a group that leases a spot, or watch for leases that open up.

You accused him of taking a "crap shot", thats the same saying hes a slob hunter, is it not? Those two things always seem to go hand in hand. He filmed himself making those shots, and all were good. You dont film yourself doing that without being confident in your skills. My bet is that he could repeat those shots.
