  1. Today I ended up getting a great deal on a 26" fluted Stainless Pro Hunter barrel, so she will be ready to go for ML this coming season. Ill post pics once I get a forearm and put it all together.
  2. Ive seen some pretty tall buck rubs, but not 6 feet high. You sure they were that tall? That would be either above your head or just about even with the top of it, depending on your height. I would think a Moose would knock those trees down if he rubbed them.
  3. Sorry, but that argument no longer flys in NY, as the DEC has already come out and said that they consider the Crossbow to be a form of archery equipment.
  4. I found a great deal on a Moultrie I-90, which is very similar to the I-60 I have now, except for the MPs and the IR flash is a different type, supposedly less noticable than the older style. I also found a great deal on the Moultrie Power Panels, which are the solar charged battery packs, for $63 shipped a piece, so I bought 2 of them, one for each cam. I no longer will have to worry about battery life on them, which will save money and aggrivation. Once I get the power panels, Ill put the cam out and post some pics.
  5. Rivers Edge also has one, you can get it for $249 through Dicks http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4295049&cp=4406646.4413993.4414427.4414432
  6. You reap what you sow.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NFn4JXkcwLs#
  7. I voted no, but that just means I woulndt use one unless I had to. Im not against them being used.
  8. Like culver said, You can start at the battery and move toward the winch, testing the cable at every connection point. You set the meter at the same setting as you would for any 12v system, such as a battery, like you said. My thought is that if the solenoid tested good, just make sure the feed is giving power to it, if it is, start tracing the wires toward the winch and go from there, if not, start tracing the path back toward the battery. Electrical stuff can be frustrating, but you should be able to do it. That being said, I've been driven completely nuts by something seemingly simple, like trailer lights lol.
  9. Supposedly they do ok on shotguns. I think it was last year on that show Sons Of Guns where they suppressed a shotgun. I don't remember what gauge it was, but it was a Saiga. From what they said, it just brought the sound down to where you didn't need hearing protection.
  10. I think most opinions that people form about silencers come from the movies where you cant hear that pistol shot from 20 feet away. Thats not what a silencer does. Its the difference between wanting hearing protection and not needing it while you are shooting. Youd still hear the shot 100 yards away, it wouldnt be quite as loud though. There are states that already allow it.
  11. Thats great for him, but he should also be allowed to make the choice to use one or not, just like he has the choice to use a single shot rifle or shotgun, or what caliber he wants to use. Its not about need, its about choice.
  12. Hopefully he just swims away on his own.
  13. I'm pretty sure the sunset clause was put in because the current regs are not what DEC really wants. They (DEC) have already come out and said they want crossbows in archery season. The preliminary regs were put in place to make crossbows legal for any hunting use in NY with the least amount of complaining from NYB and other organizations like it. Just the other day (1-26-12), there was a round table discussion with legislators, hunters, and other groups concerning crossbows. I believe it was held near Albany, but don't quote me on that part. From what I hear, it was just a pow-wow for legislators to hear the arguments on all sides. I also hear that NYB was the only group there that was against crossbows in archery season, and that their main argument was that they wanted people to bow hunt the "hard way". Personally, I would like to see more of these meetings held in different areas of the state.
  14. +1 Elmo. I am of Native American and German decent, but I am 100% American. My family has been here since well before the Civil War, and the other part has been here all along. The German side came here, assimilated and made their way. My family has fought in every war this country has ever seen, besides the Revolutionary (that we know of). The way I look at it is much like you, if you love the place your ancestors came from so much, then take your butt back there. Otherwise, call yourself an American, learn the language and be a productive member of society.
  15. I would get ahold of Moultrie's support about the white outs, they will help you out.
  16. Wow, something Doc and Bubba can agree on!
  17. It was funny, guy couldn't speak a lick of English, and used a coffee cup lid as his ink cup. I almost backed out when I saw that lol. It was brand new though and wiped down with alcohol.
  18. Ha, sounds like we all have stuff that needs finished up. I have my whole right shoulder outlined, waiting to be filled. Gonna have the star on my chest touched up when I have that filled as well. Can't really make the touch up appointment when you get one done in Mexico on vaca lol.
  19. Nice. I have a bunch, mostly black and white tribal stuff, but a couple of pieces mixed in. I've been trying to think of some way to mix a hunting related one in there somewhere.
  20. Or crusts over once or twice. They can't dig through that stuff.
  21. Home made steak subs tonight.
  22. They started talking about that since they started the reintroduction programs out west. Maybe even longer, but that was when I remember first hearing about it.
