Luberhill, you might not have received a letter, note or in person thank you but your generosity and community service speaks volumes. Hopefully your helping someone make a better life for themselves and there family present and future. The only negative that could come of this is if you are deterred from future generosity. I hope that doesn't happen, the world needs more people like you. From an average New Yorker like me I would like to say thanks!

Dug up two plants and this was the haul. Not sure if this is below or above average but I definitely have some larger russets in there. Heat was crazy today I couldn't get much done in the garden, got nauseous picking weeds.

What are you planting? Might be better not to disc if you sprayed. If you need to disc wait till whatever you sprayed is dead then go for it. (For me it takes a week at least) If your planting rye or wheat I would just broadcast whenever your ready (hopefully right before a rain).

Lots of deformed carrots because I planted them to close but they are great. I'll keep canning eggplant because it's amazing! Deer apparently don't like banana peppers compared to others so I got a little haul today. Cilantro is bolting I need to lookup how to haven't coriander. Basil is insane I cut it back it comes in thicker. Already have two jars of basil, at this pace I will have plenty of basil year around. Brussels look good but the plant is ate to shit. Another problem hopefully I find a fix.

Whatever works best for everyone but I like knowing my position early. After last year I'll take all the help I can get.

Draft order is determined an hour or half hour before the draft in yahoo. Butttttttt the commissioner can set it earlier if requested.

Raccoon, fox, coyote, fisher?,buck, rabbit, and doe with twins off one camera the last week or so. Strip of red clover on an old logging trail is attracting the good and the bad.

Marinated some goat, went with Caribbean goat stew. Darn good on top of some mashed potato. Had to thicken the gravy with a little flour but beside that the recipe was on point.

Picture doesn't do the carrot justice it was as long as my forearm. Was starting to give up in them. Some weird worm looking thing is trying it's best to destroy my Brussel sprout plants. Overnight top leaves were demolished along with black crap all over the plants. Another eight eggplant, the plants are falling over do to weight.

Canned eggplant with oil, pepper flakes and homegrown oregano, basil and garlic. Last year I did the same thing except with Italian eggplant and I think I undercooked it a tad. Was still very good but hoping a couple changes kick it up a notch.

Afghanistan falls in a week, WTH?
corydd7 replied to Gobbler Chaser's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
My best friend is back home for a funeral, he has 18 years in active duty (stays with my wife and I when he is back home). He got a call about three hours ago letting him know that current guys on deployments just got extended three months and more deployments to Afghanistan are happening soon. He has six deployments under his belt and was looking forward to an easy last two years. Well that isn't happening now, because of his rank he will forsure enjoy one last trip to the Middle East. -
Mixed bag this week for my garden. Caught this doe as she broke into the garden, stopped her from eating much but they get in whenever they want. Buttttttttt pulled some carrots, potatoes, jalapeños, and eggplant. Must be 40 to 50 eggplant so far. Dried another two racks of basil we have enough basil already to last us a year. Had more potatoes but they didn't fit in the picture. French fingerlings

First no till brassica plot
corydd7 replied to corydd7's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Getting there. About 40 days since planting so I hit it with 160 pounds of urea as suggested on the planting instructions. Following advice, I just today planted big n beasty in the clover plot I killed off. Suppose to rain tonight and next couple of days so I took the three hour ride up today. I had no luck spraying this year. Each time I could make it up we had rain the next day, so killed off yes but not as killed compared to previous years of spraying. -
Yeah makes sense. Eggplant just took on a bit to much smoke. Will be good with bread oil and balsamic vinegar tomorrow cold.
-
Smoked eggplant and pork belley. Wouldn't do apple with the eggplant again but was still not bad. Pork belley was great.

Shit. Well it took a month but she is back. Sprayed the stinky stuff about an hour ago hopefully she stays away for a bit. Got my cucumbers, squash, carrots and half my peppers.

Clams and mussels . One of my favorite summer meals, long island to wash it down at a local spot.

I forgot to post this. Last week a regular customer dropped these authentic chicken curry meat pockets off to me. Amazing women, she adopted three young African kids as an Indian women, the crap she must get (and her husband) from all angles makes my knees buckle. The three boys now young men make me smile everytime I see them! Retail isn't fun but getting to know families is beyond rewarding. Good young men with a proud mom, if that's not America I don't know what is!

I second this. Poor showing last year but I'm in for redemption.
