  1. Deer browsed it down? Do the clover stems looks like they just didn't grow or nipped off? Perfect time to throw some rye and save your plot. After I finish this glass of jack that's exactly what I'm doing. My clover gets crushed this time of year, I over seed if with wheat or rye and the deer seem to enjoy it.
  2. I'm in. Down for whatever you guys come up with but I agree with Elmo gift cards would be better then random items. But it's all in good fun so whatever you guys decide I support.
  3. Enjoy! We canceled our trip this year because of covid, I'll be watching your trip with envy.
  4. I have picked at least 40 jalapenos and I have zero that even started to turn red. Jalapenos are awesome stuffed but if there small cut them in rings and pickle them. About 12 will fill a jar. I just used some to top off nachos, nothing better then pickled jalapenos for me.
  5. Stuffed aniehiem and jalapenos from the garden. Tri tip didn't make the picture but was great cooked in the sous vide at 129 for two hours.
  6. Johnny seed company deserves a lot of credit for all this. They are making a first time gardener look good. The jalapenos are huge! Double the size of my other jalapenos from hudson valley seeds. I had at least 15 tomatoes split from to much water (I got to test my fastball chucking them into the woods) but still pulled a large bag full. I sure wish I had more red peppers coming because they taste great. The aniehiem and jalapenos are getting stuffed tonight, the red and orange peppers are going on kabobs with some tri tip tonight. My old man is staying at my house while he visits and is reaping the rewards of my hard work.
  7. First eggplant, peppers are turning colors quick. Rain stopped me for a bit but headed back out for poblanos later.
  8. First melon, I let one go bad didn't realize it was wipe. Yes it is suppose to be yellow. Shishito peppers are from one limb that got to heavy and broke off.
  9. Homegrown poblano peppers, jalapeno peppers stuffed with pimento cheese, chorizo and shrimp. Oh my is it good, I'm not sure why but boy do the pablanos have some kick. Topped off with some cilantro not in the picture.
  10. Sunflowers have tons of bees. Must have 30 or 40 pablano peppers that are good to go. I'm going to stuff these with homemade pimento cheese and shrimp tonight. Watermelons have been the same size for a while, anybody have any insight as to why that may happen?
  11. Pimento cheese will be made tomorrow. And grilled zucchini is my veggie for the next week. I was gone camping since Friday and came back to thos beast.
  12. Storm got my garden a bit, all the peppers below are supposed to be red but were knocked off their plants. Took down a willow and black locust to boot. My neighbor was awesome today, a tree on his property was uprooted and leaning over my fence and garden. We limbed it out and then he took his truck and flipped the tree back his way. Good man, couldnt be happier with him, hard to find people like him. The willow tree missed my brothers truck by 12 feet (we measured). He said he isn't visiting anymore during storms. Corn and sunflowers are knocked over but making their way upright.
  13. Same here. I'm in Orange County and didn't get slammed but I have at least one tree down. Sunflowers are down hope they comeback strong. I also got tboned and totaled my wifes SUV an hour ago. Thirty five years old and my first accident, I should have stayed home in this weather.
  14. My first of many aniehiem peppers to come. All the shishitos went to my neighbor. Can barely keep up with the cilantro, I'm making salsa tonight for my wife.
  15. The first year for me it took a while. After the first frost they become more appealing. The second year they started eating them early September.
  16. Now that is a southern comfort meal. Looks amazing, great job with the smoke ring.
  17. Pimentos were starting to crack so I yanked them even though they were still a little green. I pickled them with jalapenos. Watermelons love the rain they are popping up everywhere, so far I count eight the largest the size of a volleyball. My eggplant that was crushed by bugs are just starting to show. Berries are from my cabin. My dad and I had little time to pick but raspberries were abundant this year. Blackberries just starting, next week I might go up to pick and seed food plots.
  18. No tips from me just lucky I guess. Lots of water to start but the rest took care of itself. Crappy is right though it bolts quickly, that's the reason I cut so much today. I prune it just like basil and it keeps coming back quicker and quicker.
  19. My jalapenos really slowed down which sucks. Finally got a couple red shishito peppers. Two cups of cilantro along with two cups of basil, I just finished making more pesto. My first glow pepper! One of my pablano plants fell over so I doubled up on bamboo stakes. Tomatoes are small next year I will definitely prune them. I'm headed to my cabin tomorrow for a couple days, hopefully when I come back I can make some more salsa and pickled jalapenos.
  20. Second groundhog in about ten days. One trap I've caught two groundhogs, a coon and possum in two weeks. They are closing in lol Peppers really taking off, pimentos and belle peppers starting to turn and poblanos are shooting out everywhere! Watermelons are twice the size of softballs. Tomatoes look small don't think I'll have the best results but I just fertilized so there is that. Bridge to Paris pepper look huge just need more of them.
  21. Unfortunately I believed the weatherman today and baked them instead of smoking them but they are damn good. Some homemade potato salad and corn with some garden fresh zucchini bread.
  22. Wolc, does all your corn tassel at the same time?
  23. Skirt steak marinated for a couple days with cilantro and garlic sauce. My wife thought it was a race of who could eat the quickest, she won. Maine lobster last night courtesy of a friend who is now a better friend.
  24. Thanks Otto! Yeah I know, I got impatient and just wanted to try this method. What are are you referring to as far as grilling? I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do with the pimento peppers.
