Disc or spring tine harrow
corydd7 replied to Team Hoyt's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I always enjoy Land's post but we have the opposite experience with a atv disc. I even think we had the same equipment if I remember an old post correct. Add weight to the back of the disk and I always get desired results. I get 70 or 80 pound bags of fertilizer I forget. I put two on the back of the disk and because of the material of the bag it last all day. I think this method would did up less rocks. -
So if the mob comes to your street or town, what do yo do?
corydd7 replied to ApexerER's topic in General Chit Chat
As I've said before I own a couple pre paid phone stores. The company had us shutdown early today, fifteen to twenty stores in the city and Newark had looting the last couple days. I tried to order 80 phones today and only recieved twenty do to the other stores stock needed to be replenished. I hope Newburgh makes out okay because there are some tough neighborhoods downtown. The shame is many of these stores are owned by minorities. The other shame is pretending this is all because of a man losing his life. Change needs to happen but looting and rioting promotes racism simple as that. -
Grew a couple sunflowers in solo cups this was the best. Over 6 feet tall, it went in the ground yesterday. Eggplant looks like it has seen better days except for a few plants but my peppers look great. Corn and sunflowers from seed went in yesterday as well.

Ground habitat , benefits all game
corydd7 replied to G-Man's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I wasn't trying to increase grouse habitat when I bought land but I have numerous grouse on our property. They hangout within 30 yards of my cabin and my dogs jump them all the time while walking trails. The more variety of animals the better. -

Lab Results for Food plot soil
corydd7 replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Yup I tried it but had better luck with rye and wheat. -
There are great episodes on YouTube. I'm not a full time bow hunter so I'm not sure I will invest this year but I think for me it would be another tool for hunting depending on weather, the property and conditions. Upstate at my cabin I would choose climber but for state land, swamps, and ability to change locations quickly and quietly a saddle would be great. I have the same concern as far as comfort in a saddle. Seems like a mobile system but for an all day sit my climber seems like a better choice

Lab Results for Food plot soil

Definitely looks like rye. I believe it was Zag, I recommend beets and greens over winter greens and ttt. I would disc it in but no till is in vogue. -
New plot clearing for neighbor
corydd7 replied to G-Man's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Just awesome info as usual. I'm not the only one interested in a full post on dogwood, Aspen or any other food source. If you have the time and don't mind posting, I'm sure more then myself would benefit. Why let the buckwheat go to seed? Why not till it or top seed with rye or wheat creating more green manure? I should put you on my payroll with my accountant but I think I would enjoy your company more. -

Are you planning on rye or wheat in September after the buckwheat? What are your thoughts on dogwood for deer? Always love following your post on qdma. -
No pictures but my neighbors came over and dropped off lamb chops, strip steak, and cornbread. New neighbors, we bought our houses within the last six months, how cool is that? Unbelievable how nice it was of them. They saw my wife and I working outside all day after we got home and knew we were hungry. Made my freaking day.

My wife was walking to dog out back and said she saw a fawn so young it couldn't stand up. My dog was barking and the doe wouldn't move. She took the dog the other way I hope they were ok. We were coming home today right by the Albany exit and there was a fawn laying in the slow lane. Somebody pulled over and went to pick it up.

Twenty seven plants in the ground. Assorted peppers and two different eggplants so far. I have about forty peppers left and 15 watermelon. (All started from seed) My other garden has lettuce started indoors that's doing great but carrots, parsnips and spinach haven't germinated at all.

32 GB is plenty unless your taking long videos or leaving them for a year at a time. Walmart has 32 GB sd card with the adapter for like $8.99. If your in the Hudson Valley send me a pm and I can hook you up.

Camera is mounted on the tree I shot my bow buck last year, on a rye food plot. Camera was out about 5 weeks. This is Oneida County.

When I lived in Hawaii I use to let a local access the water via my deck. He spear fished and would leave tako in a cooler at my front step. He also use to catch some sort of fish and make patties out of it for me. I will even post this embarrassing picture as proof. Myself and two other roommates lived in Ewa Beach with a 1000 sq foot deck that backed up to the Pacific Ocean.

Awesome very interested to see your progress. Your land looks great.

Zag, I haven't planted eagle beans but I think the main benefit is that it makes pods. If you have a small plot and a good amount of deer which you seem to have, do you think your plants will have the time to make pods? If not wti powerplant will produce amazing tonnage but it won't carry over into November (no pods). Good luck with the beans!
