just got done spraying today, wait a few weeks drag and plant any time 1st 2 weeks of august when i see rain in forecast....

my old man 3 yrs ago had surgery for several issues 3 weeks before gun openere ,doctors orders no hunting , couldnt go to camp but coming opening day he snuck out behind his house without the wifes knowledge whacked a 3 pt 1st half hr....

i honestly like having bigger bulbs not the most favorite of deer but i have zero ag , the bulbs make my late season perhaps best time to hunt....there in the plots almost anytime of day when theres cold and snow and last well into winter, now just pure attractive yes leafy tops rule, but they get hammered by end of october about gone

not going to hurt a thing to scout now i would be a little more concerened come september

might want to check out some you tube out Whitetail habitatt solutions on seed blends....sugar beets should be planted very early and not same time as brassicas and dwarf rape is kinda of a cheep filler but ,,, hope your hard work pays off def going the extra mile with watering

ive never cut rye but they seem to like it under 6in tall

yeah i started in 2017 doing them some years better then others always weather dependant ,, your area seems to be on the wet side, easiest thing to plant and get results is winter rye, also i have had real good luck with WI oats really good draw early part of season and last longer in the cold then regular oats one mild year they stayed on it all threw gun season... my go to tho is big n beasty great drawing power late and they still hit it good from mid october till its gone but it shines in cold snowy weather

my primary seed is Big N Beasty then some grain rye or oats but grain dosnt hit the ground till about labor day,,,

Well mowed the weeds of my plots yesterday hope to spray on july 12 or 13, then drag and plant first week of august prices are high on everything seed, spray etc... so only one spray and one drag this year hope to avoid fertilizer and didnt do any lime this year

FYI keep your eyes open for a bear there is one bouncing around the area... i havent seen but got solid reports of one...

since u cant spray may want to drag twice few weeks apart the first one usually stimulates new weed growth,,, 2nd drag right before u plant, just what i have found

I only can really speak on brassica mixes and grain and yes its to early for them, I shoot for 1st week of august on brassicas and late august for grains , but i always wait till there is a very good chance for rain just after planting...

What I dont get is they are so eager to make new laws but dont want criminals locked up when they break the current laws we do have...

one issue is in New York retired cops have a cap on what they can make in NY if working say for a school, DPW, village, city, county job, currently it is 35,000.00 you can get a waiver but that seems to be hit or miss.....last few years with covid the state has waved this for some positions

Agree 100% but have u asked any cop they will say that numbers are so low they cant cover there patrol areas with out guys working forced overtime I do not know one department in central NY that has even 75% of the cops they should have or what is called for minimum staffing, cant blame younger people but not many want to be cops....

agree with phantom this animal did not care about killing people he would have got his hands a gun one way or another legal or not ....Theres no law that i see will stop these shootings. Beefed up security maybe the only way to put a quick stop to one of these animals. But a deranged lunatic that wants to kill people and has no care for others or himself and only has one goal is very difficult to stop them from trying. Setting the age at 21 to buy a gun are you telling me that a 20yr old who maybe has served in the military cant buy a gun... Criminals are called criminal because they dont follow laws,,, and just speaking for New York plenty of gun laws and plenty of criminals getting arrested they just dont lock criminals up anymore.....Its a horrific tragedy and thoughts and prayers got out to those families in Texas
