  1. Just got back to the house. I didn't take to many pictures but each spot I scouted online ended up being having sign some good some bad. Total miles walked 8 The best setup spot was stop number 2 and was 10x better in person then online. Its a corner of a field edge with a deep ravine off the back(didn't show on the topo) and the space between the ridge and the field was 20 yards with 6 trails all meeting and crossing at a massive white oak. So I have a camera in place and a tree picked out. 1st spot we went to was the farthest from camp but we found 20plus beds in a deep thicket with a pinch point leading to an ag field. There had to be 200 plus rubs in this area and we also found a scrape from last year. 3 rd spot had the 2nd least amount of sign but looked to hold a good amount of deer and had a bunch of historical rubs. 4th spot is an exit coming from a swamp leading to agg fields. Trails are down to mud and I also found beds in the swamp. We also hung a camera at this location. Easy entrance in and out with a mountain pinching them down to a little ditch leading to the meadows. 5th spot was also another swamp but didn't really have what I was looking for. Very little current sign and very little historic sign. So we found a handful of solid spots that should produce and can sit multiple people on different winds. Only pictures I have is of one bed and a porcupine.
  2. Well in about an hr 3 of us are meeting up and going for an all day scouting trip in PA to the area we are going to hunt. I've been pouring over maps on Huntstand for 3 months and it's time to put my boots on the ground and hope my map reading skills and deer knowledge put me close. The one piece is 7000 acres and I have 4 30 acre pieces that interest me. There is also a 700acre piece near by that has 3 30 acre chunks that have my attention. Didn't sleep much because I'm so pumped for my first out of state hunt. I'll post some pictures later from today of what we find.
  3. Didn't take any pictures yesterday but if you have a chance to go next year I would. Very good course and very challenging I shot like crap but it was fun.. There's flat shots uphill, downhill shooting between trees shots from 3yrds to 72yrds. They had a long shot and if you hit the 10 put you into a drawing for some very expensive boots. They gave away a mathews bow, rienhart targets and 1000s of dollars in other prizes. They also had a moving bear target competition and a robot buck shoot off. At the end they gave away all the left over stuff so we got some broadheads and hats. One of the guys we shot with took home $100 in gift cards and other prizes. Your entry gets you a small present and free drink and if you like beer after you get done shooting only $2 for a beer can or bottle.
  4. Hoping to if work schedule allows it. Also hoping to hit up Oxfords
  5. Weirdest one I saw in person was one my cousin shot. It had 2 8inch spikes coming off of each side of its head and that's it. No injury no bases even on top of his head just on the side behind the eyes. He thought it was a doe with an arrow in her neck when he first saw it.
  6. Anyone here going tomorrow? I think there are 4 or 5 of us that are going. I've never been to this one but I here it's a bunch of fun.
  7. I would take her. My kids love it when they go even if they dont see anything. My 4yr old wants to go this year so opening weekend I'll take him and just enjoy the time with him.
  8. Looks good. You gave me an idea for my living room.
  9. Just sent that code to a friend that's looking at their saddles
  10. Hopefully you can get on him first thing this year.
  11. I would love to use one of those but not legal on stateland. I have one for the only small piece of private I hunt or i just bring a screw in step. However they have a bunch of valuable trees so if I'm in one I hold my bow. Not giving any chance to ruin the timber on someone else land.
  12. Yea I couldn't figure out 2.5 or good 1.5 it will most likely be an in the moment decision on him. I have a picture of a decent 8 on the same camera and I know of one other big one running the area.
  13. Really bad at guessing age. Clearly not a 3.5 or more but do you think a possibly a 2.5 or just a good size 1.5? 2.5 is what I look for every year older bucks would be nice but chasing 2.5 yr olds on stateland is just as fun for me.

  15. When it's the first hr and last the bow is always in hand. This holder will come in nice for those all day sits and when I just need to stretch or in the freezing cold since I don't where gloves while bowhunting
  16. My uncle does but his issue is the ATVs that think the trail is open year round so he made the club pay for 2 heavy duty gates blocking his property and won't allow them to open them until after the first of the year. He had a string of bad years with atvs that caused 1000s in damage to his property. That's why it led to the gate situation.
  17. If a car can be driven up to that camera maybe someone was doing a little parking with someone they weren't supposed to be and took any evidence of it happening. Either way it's weird and nice of the person to atleast pay for the card.
  18. I understand the walk away and my FIL is a former CO and he said his instructors told him the same thing. I asked him why he said how will it look if the cops pull up and you have a gun aimed at someone or just in your hand who do you think they are going after first.
  19. Just got in my new hanger and installed it. Just need to add some stealth strips. I thinks it's going to work put great for hunting statand.
  20. Me to. I have another spot that I saw in person 2 weeks ago that is a little bigger then that 8 on the camera.
  21. Apples and oaks early season. Any green browse or buds off trees focus around ponds and streams since there is so much diversity they will eat alot of the native grasses. Late season is whatever they can find. Last year I found a group of does and all they seemed to be munching on were hemlocks freshly knocked over from a storm.
  22. Just pulled cameras to see what's running around. These are from 2 different properties. I'm guessing all 2.5 yr Olds for my area. Not sure about the spike or 4 pt whatever it is.
  23. Bow: Elite Ritual 33 62lbs, 28inch draw 475grain victory arrows with 100 grain black hornet Gun: H&R 30-06 single shot, Mossberg 500 20gauge for deer drives and walking. ML: CVA wolf 2 triple 7s and powerpelt bullets
  24. Well I had a couple hours today so I went to that spot I wanted to check out. Found a nice spot with 2 large beds about 100 yards apart. I think I will still hold and jump in farther once the leaves are down and it's a windy or rainy day. Found a bunch of rubs but nothing to impressive but I did find a track that was as wide as 3 fingers so something large is living in that swamp.
