Ide take it. Is it me or does he seem skinny for this time of year?

Man i wish i had more then tomorrow morning to hunt this weekend. But next weekends a 4 day and guns all good to go for the opener. Should be a good sit and putting up a stand for gun opener.

Hope you guys made out ok up that way heard it was pretty nasty.

On my way to the lease in a couple to do this exact thing and same reasons. With this wind and midday very small chance ill bump any. Im not worried about noise much its on a field edge and the owners are always in the woods so for them to hear metal hit doesnt freak them out and ruin the next days hunt.

Just got home pretty windy and bunch of limbs down. Quick nap then off to shoot the guns and maybe to hang a stand quick.

Becareful out there. On myway into work almost drove into a down tree. Ran over another limb i didnt see then had a big limb fall as i was driving and hit it at 45 with no chance to brake.

Since i hunt stateland mainly and your not supposed to put anything in the trees(atleast what i sas told) but its an old trail camera strap and 2 rubber coated hooks. It can hold my pack and bow at the same time. With no issues. Rolls up nice and quite quick to instal. Ill try to post pics this weekend with it use.

Ill be out mainly to set stands and some still hunting/scouting. Might sit for a little bit but i think it will be a getting guns ready day.

Its been rough the last couple years because theres so many amish around and they just stack them. I joke that the youth opener the amish take as opener of gun. But i think someones cracked down on them because the deer heard is looking good again in that area. I will say though if and when i can by a chunck of land for hunting it will be in the hamilton area.

Ide say not having enough cover. When i used my climber i always tried to get up in front/middle of pines or a cluster of trees. If i couldnt ide get 20ft. This is why i switched to a hang on and sticks because i can make sure i always have cover.

Like wise. Ive got a piebald doe hanging out on the neighbors property. I havent seen it yet but ide like to. Owners see almost daily. She will get a pass from me.

Almost ended up with a 6 pt on the hood of the truck driving home.

Does anyone ever see an increase of hunters on stateland because of crossbow opener? Im usually at my lease that saturday but it doesnt seem like the woods get hit harder.

Theres a good one in preston which is a couple mins outsidr of norwich my friend had one done out of the guy from sherburne both do a good job. These are both taxidermist. I use fowlstons out of oxford for my butcher but its been a couple years but he tends to have a quick turn around ide have to see if hes still doing it.

I agree with hock first year using milk weed. Ill will always have it on me while hunting. And knowing where to slow down comes with expiernce and what deer are showing you. The piece i killed my deer on last week and found scrapes yesterday i know i can walk in 1/2 mile at a steady pace before i slow up. Ive hunted it for 15 yrs and ive never caught a deer or seen tracks even with snow the first 1/2 mile. Look for sign,scrapes rubs,trails scat. They will show you where they hang out. Best tool i use is pre scouting with huntstand or onx hunt apps to give you a rough idea of whats where. Most important is speed and wind they are used to other animals running around. Last note my friend kills 90% of his deer still hunting. 3 things he always does wind in his face always stops at a tree/bush he can shoot around,gun is always ready.

Got a good wife. She just told me since next weekend i wont be hunting all but friday between her bday and friends services. Shes giving me the entire next weekend to hunt for 4 days straight and then taking a halfday on the 15th so i dont have to leave the woods. Hoping tags are filled by then.
