  1. Do a test and I bet you will get pretty close to the same POI.... I don't snap a primer.
  2. The Vortek has the ported barrel correct? I would also go up for down in charges. For me I start @ 70 and go up by ten until I find the sweet spot. BH209 is a progressive burning powder and likes a tight fit bullet. Maybe change the sabot with the scorpians or go to the 250 version which I think Harvester carries. Just a thought.
  3. From your search engine that is a different omega from the Z5. The Z5 is the most basic omega, no fluted barrel and a composite stock that is most times called a tupperware stock. People fill them with caulk, lead shot or what ever. My best guess is that your stock on your gun has been swapped out with another TC laminated stock. I looked back in TC's book a few years and don't see that laminated stock under the Z5 line up. I do see it listed under other Omegas.I don't have the part numbers listed with me at this time. If you click on the Z5 you can see all the models listed.. Steve
  4. I am pretty sure the Z5 only came in the fiberglass stock. A laminated one can be after market. As for TC and a left handed one they don't make it to the best of my knowledge. You would be very lucky to find any lefthanded thumbhole from any manufacturer. Value 200-300 depending.
  5. Agree with Bubba, 80-100gr is more then enough from T7 / Pyro / or BH209. The 250-300gr XTP in a crush rib, the 350FPB and once agin the 300gr Deep curls in a crush rib will shoot great out of that gun.Make sure all bullets are set firm on the charge. They say out of box the Triumph is great for accuracy. I really can't say enough about the deep curls. People are starting to catch on as they are sold out just about every place.Graffs and Powder Valley are the only place I think that carry them in stock.
  6. I had to switch from the W209ML in the tan box to a shorter primer.CCI is a good primer to use with BH209. The newer Triple 7 primer shouldn't stick either.Bubba is correct it is the length not diameter.
  7. Hunter49, what primer are you using?
  8. I to Like Bubba did alot of testing, I also had the same issue as you. I switched to shorter primer and that took care of everything. If you like the primer you are using just carry a leatherman tool and use the needle nose to pull out. If Bubba doesn't buy your plug I will. I know have three and all work like a charm. I change the O ring every 20-30 shots.LAst I heard Nick had left the company that makes them and they were using up what stock they had left. After that who knows if they will be in production. Are you using a Lowes # 60 for your O ring Bubba I think some other ML now are using the O ring in after market plugs, maybe the Encore or vent liner like Savage and some Accura after market plugs.I think ..... The orange primer carriers are great for safety but will not work 100% of the time with Black horn 209.That is why MU came out with a plug. Steve
  9. This is from MML and thanks to Busta and Big 6x6 for the info
  10. But you can carry pistol during the rifle season, even a 4in semi it looks like if I am understanding things correctyl
  11. I have to check cilabus but to my understanding no hand gun can be carried during the muzzle loading and bow only seasons. During the rifle season a pistol can be carried with a vaild NYS pistol permit. Is that not the case in the new rule book?
  12. I knew you couldn't carry a pistol during the muzzle loading season.I use a ML year round and do carry my pistol during the rifle season. "There is something new in the rules and regs. It states u cannot carry a semiauto handgun with a barrel length shorter than 8 inches holding more with a capacity of more than 6 rounds that pretty much eliminates all semiautos " I can't find the above in the book, where did you find that info? thanks, Steve

The 350gr FPB will knock a deer flat out. If you want some cheap bullets that are taking muzzle loading by storm try the .452 250-300gr Speer Deep curls. They are like 16 bucks for 50.Try a Harvester sabot and watch what great results you get.Plus they are one of if not the best bullet on the market. They perfrom better then the XTP and that bullet has taken more deer then just about another bullet out there.

I have shot the 350 and 300gr in my Heritage, same as sidekick but camo and stainless.I have gotten better groups with the 350gr instead of the 300gr.Others report the same thing.Try some White Power Punch in 400gr or some No Excuses in 460gr ,they shoot lights out and are alot cheaper then the FPB.
  15. I have seen some great groups with imr-4759. Melvin is like Gordy at knight they are both great guys and great to the sport of muzzle loading
  16. I am going to say sweet. New Ultra Light Arms always shoot lights out. Is Melvin still making them
  17. the vortek has the ported barrel, that could be a pain with loose powder. You can always try loose T7 or prydex. The bullets you listed are all good choices except the power belts. That is just MY thoughts, others like them .The FPB and the deep curls are two other bullets you might want to shoot or try out.The deep curls are taking muzzle loading by storm, they might be on back order from alot of places.Powder Valley just had them as I placed a order for 50. BH209 can now be bought for 27bucks to your door.If shooting loose start at arounf 80gr and then work your way up.Most sweet spots are between 80-90gr loose.
  18. Bubba you shooting a .451 or .452 XTP....Did you replace the impact with the encore? I to am using my muzzle loader all during the gun season......
  19. Now that hunting season is in CLOSE site, whats everyone shooting this season. I am going to use my TC X7 and am still up in the air on bullet. It will be the 300gr deep curl or the 350gr FPB.
  20. They are taking muzzle loaders by storm...............People are catching on to them.I am suprised powder valley doesn't have them. I just got 50 last week.
  21. Yea I love those XTP too they have gotten more deer then just about any bullet out there. You will like the cost of the deep curls.50 for 15bucks I think.
  22. Bubba the deep curls are known as the poor man's nosler. I have not shot a deer with them yet but they group awsome in my X7 and nef. I just got 50 more of the .452 300 gr from powder valleys. I know graff and sons and midsouth shooter supply have them. Stev
  23. How do those .429 load in the crs for that barrel. I have had better luck with the .452 in the crush rib sabot. Have you tried the speer deep curls? Steve
  24. Times two on what bubba said. Just be safe with the pressed O ring breach plug
  25. Natchez and Able ammo have them in stock,it is on my want list, but not first on that list. A white thunderbolt is leading the way.
