  1. i do the same and range ahead of time but i sometimes range other spots when i sit there or do it again if i forgot. but just seems like with rangefinder, binos, grunt call, bow and my big ass in the stand theres a lot going on there. lol Used to carry binos but they seemed to be more in the way than helpful at least during bow. Gun is def different might try out those harnesses .
  2. I was thinking during bow. I do carry a little monocular in my pocket but rather have the rangefinder handy for bow. So they need to be close and will see them without binos.
  3. do you guys that carry binos also use a range finder? I dont use binos cause they are always in the way and i also have the rangefinder hanging around my neck.
  4. agree with others here. When its cold i wear a one piece set of long underbunks. Best thing there is. If you add a set of coveralls you will cert keep the heat in.
  5. It's a deal! We just need Biz to lock it in with a prediction. Lol
  6. Weekend highs in the 40s, a looking rut and crossbow opens. Looks like a winner to me!
  7. I also don't see any deer hanging in that pic! Lol
  8. Thanks Mike! it feels like last year! lol. Never drew my bow back on a deer all season last year either. But last week of archery with xbow it took a turn for the better - with a doe and then my best buck ever 2 days before gun opened. Hoping this season is like the last in the end, prime time is coming. And the first two weeks in Nov I work only 4 days! lol Not expecting a big un and would be happy with my usual 5 pointer.
  9. Had thurs and fri off and bagged those cause it looks like big rain and am taking wed instead and prob hunt tues after work. Last of after work hunting once the time change happens this weekend. And last ditch effort with the compound before the xbow comes out.
  10. Did you hike the trail along kings flow in chimney? I hunted it there before before it makes a turn to head towards puffer pond there was a nice open gully there.Saw some deer and bear sign there. And seen a deer in the trail on the way back. Have to get off the main trail there as too many hikers and leaf peepers. Dunno if you checked out cabins but they are really nice and not bad priced. Have had some great times there and shore lunches.
  11. he actually is the guy that invented the corner mount i guess. or has the patent to or something like that.
  12. this guy keeps showing up at night ..... same areas ... hopefully in daylight once while i am there
  13. if you shoot a big buck today you know that you will be washing your clothes in it from here on out! lol .
  14. Love the chimney mtn spot. It's just paradise. Might not have a lot of deer but it is beautiful. Even the drive in over the causeway on Abanake lake. I used to spend a lot of time there. XBIL was the caretaker at the cabins. He shot a big 11 point up there years ago.
  15. Best time of year is next couple of weeks. No crossbow or compound?
  16. Yes def. Gonna try it though one of these days
  17. Looks like i may have to rethink hunting plans for the week. I have th and f off and they look like a damn washout. So maybe hunt Tues after work, then take wed off.... And save a day for gun.
  18. You'll get em Dan. That cat is in trouble and he doesn't even know it.
  19. Lou Spina in Deansboro. Listed as Rome taxidermy as he was in Rome for 30+ years. He did my buck last season. He is semi retired and only takes about a dozen bucks and doesn't do fish anymore. He's done several fish for me as well.
