REDNECK4LIFE32 replied to Gunner's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Anywhere near the independence river state forest outside of Lowville. I've hunted there quite a few times for deer lots of big woods. Did you weigh any of the rabbits. Our derby's go by weight 1st is like 300 dollars 2nd 200 3rd 100 and no rabbit 50. All supports local hunting clubs and are held at the local American legion.- 19 replies

Usually the buck rabbit will lead straight out quite a few hundred yards and circle back. You'll know a youngings very small circles. This time of the year usually last derby little snow on the ground if any they stick out like Clorox jugs. Love it usually a lot of stray bunnies are killed then you know the lead when the dog is on it's tracks after the kill.- 19 replies

Micky Mouse Boots
REDNECK4LIFE32 replied to fasteddie's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Wore them while I was in the army their warm just have to wear lighter socks then what they issued cuz when your feet sweat no matter how warm there eventually gonna get cold. But we were in training and moving and walking quite a bit and maneuvering not just sitting in a stand. There also really bulky sometimes the air pressure knob is broke and will not compress. -

Where about's were you hunting? Up my way in the Adirondacks we have rabbit derby's every weekend from the 1st weekend in January till second or third weekend in march. Snowshoe hare only. Killed a lot of em under a dog with buddies. Biggest ones come from around corn fields edges and over grown swamps with cedar and pines and cattails.- 19 replies

Where I hunt I like to take a doe because it could be the only deer you see all season hunting the Adirondacks. Meat is meat cant eat them horns. So yes putting down a doe early makes hunting alittle easier knowing you got meat for your freezer.

Tonight the wife and I made parmesan reggano crusted baked haddock and broccoli and a tossed salad. Parmesan topping consisted of mayo, panko, parmesan, hot sauce, half lemon, Worcestershire sauce, butter, salt and pepper. Healthy side of cucumbers and tomato slices. Slice of lemon for enhanced flavor.

What do you think is the best rifle ever made?

When I was in the army it was the 240 bravo. Marines still had the m60 I think. That was 2002- 2006. -

From military experience Id say the m82 Barrett 50 caliber sniper rifle. Close second m24 Remington 700 308 caliber sniper rifle. Both very lethal at long ranges. My favorite tho is my marlin 17 cal hrm with blue grey and mixed wooden stock with out the thumb hole the first model out got it in 2004. Loved shooting beer cans full of water and watching the top go like 20-30 ft in the air and go down range and see the can completely flattened. -
Well having trouble with not letting me upload the full meatball sub with mozzarella on a roll. So just imagine what it looks like I guess.

I don't know I thought the question was where would I prefer to hunt. So I commented. If you don't mind me asking is it in the Adirondacks and what part. I hunt the northern Adirondacks.
-
Definitely the Adirondacks where I'm from. Maybe hard hunting but the kill is worth the reward. Big woods means hard hunting.
