Any pics of that buck? I hunt Putnam County (3N)

The guy I hunted with Pennsylvania last year just sent me some trail cam pics from this summer so far. Some really nice bucks. I love the non-typical. Wish I could go back this year, but between Wyoming, Arizona, and Minnesota, I can't make it. I will definitely be headed back in 2013. For those of you who bowhunt, he offers a great. $650 for the week, lodging and food included. He shows the spots where the deer are active, and you hang your own treestand, etc. Wish I had bucks like this running around 3N!

October 1-5 Mule Deer/Antelope in Wyoming. Octover 27-November 3, I drew a Coues Deer tag in Arizona, but will only be going for a deer if I get a mountain lion first.

I'd poach a human before a deer if I was starving. Humans are much easier to find and I heard humans taste better than deer anyway.

Nah, im not up against anyone but the animal. To me any buck is a good one, but I guess i'd feel differently if I lived where there were more bigger bucks. Hunting in Putnam County, I pass on spikes the first weekend, but after that, Im taking any buck I can get.

I am competiting against the animal. I am trying to outsmart the deer or lake trout. The Lake Trout lets go of the baitfish when your using a regular rod and reel. I use a baitfeeder reel that automatically allows the trout to run with the bait, essentially tricking the fish. With the help of a fishfinder and proper hooks, etc my goal is to outsmart the trout. If I walk into the woods after a long night of drinking in those same clothes, the deer smells me and never comes close enough for a shot. However, I wash my clothes non-scented, and wash my body non-scented, etc. Then instead of doing jumping jacks in the woods or screaming out "Come over here, Mr. Deer", I still as still as possible and watch an area I think deer will come out. Once again, my goal is to outsmart the deer. Hunting and Fishing is all about strategy to me. Similar to my approach at the plate vs. a starting pitcher or my strategy vs the defensive coordinator in football.

According to everyone I talked to, the guides do have pretty solid optics and, of course, much better field experience judging antlers of western animals than me.

I hunt for the competitive sport between me and the animal in hopes of winning and adding that animal to my trophy room. I keep the backstraps but usually donate the rest of the deer to the needy. My Dad and I got hooked on wolf hunting for example, because it is so difficult to specifically hunt them and be successful. I have 14 days without seeing one. My Dad had over 30 days before getting 2. Now he has them in his trophy room.

Problem is that I typically hunt in heavy woods with a shotgun for deer and don't need anything that high-powered. I can't justify spending over $200, when it seem like there are many great options for 10x42 in this price range. Looking for some opinions on the best "bang for your buck" binoculars for long distances. I am going to Wyoming for Mule/Deer antelope in October. The guide will have a spotting scope and/or really good binocs, but i'd like to have something decent too besides my leupold scope (3-9power) and 8x23 binocs. Figured some of you farm hunter's have good binocs to watch deer 300-400 yards out. Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about Moose. I am going to Wyoming in October for Mule Deer/Antelope combo hunt. The guide took care of the process of getting licenses for me. They are expensive, but I got them. I know Colorado definitely has over the counter Elk tags for many units. Are you doing a DIY hunt? or hiring a guide? If you are hiring a guide, they will give you all the info, etc.

What type of game you want to hunt? Arizona is a lottery for pretty much everything except Bear and Mt. Lion. Wyoming is pretty simple for Deer and Antelope. I think Colorado is the same?

I have a lot of experience out there. My Uncle lives in Boulder, Colorado. The first day out there it can be tough to catch your breath if your running around, etc. Boulder is like 5,400 ft. When we head up into Estes Park and get to 12,000 - 13,000ft it can be a lot tougher to breathe. Some people get naesous, I never do, but it is tough to catch your breath even just walking up stairs at that elevation, and I am in good shape. Most recently, I hunted in the Southern Arizona mountains at 4,000-8,000ft. The first day was pretty rough trying to catch my breath, but then again we did 13 miles on foot as fast as we could to follow the dogs (chasing mt. lion). After the first day I felt better adjusted and had no problems going forward. In October, I am going to Buffalo, WY for a Mule Deer/Antelope hunt. This area is about 5,000ft. I am flying in the day before to have time to sight in rifles, etc. I think this extra day will also help with breathing. Not sure where you live, but I am coming from pretty much 0ft. elevation.

Crazy..I have a porcupine mounted and the taxidermist told me to still be careful with the quills as they are barb like and can still get stuck in your skin.

That deer is absurd....monster! The little one looks like a somalian deer!
