  1. biggest problem I see with buying land in NY is a few things. 1. How close is decent land in NY for big bucks from lower Westchester County? 2. How do you manage and keep an eye on this land? 3. I already have access to free private land in Putnam County, where I have a legit chance of harvesting a buck every year. Never booners, but up to 8-10 points and 120. 4. Buying land in NY, doesn't give me extra buck tags. So if I tag out on opening day in putnam county, what am I using this extra land for? Its nice hunting less than 10 miles from home.
  2. As a NY resident, If you had $30K to spend on land, what would you buy and where, and why? Out of state like CT or NJ where you can bait and hunt more bucks, their seasons are different than NY. PA where they have different seasons, but only allowed 1 more buck? In-state, NY but its almost like whats the point if you already have access to good hunting land? spend it on multiple huntings trips? buy far away land in another state, but then how do you manage it? Thoughts?????????????????????
  3. great price, too far away....wish we had deals like that around here. Id pay $30K for 5 acres around here, but I'll never get that price.
  4. wonder why the xbow isn't allowed on small game? It would be perfect for small acreage areas where small game is abundant and you are the required distance away from houses.
  5. Listen, we all know crossbows will be allowed in archery in NY state. The question is not if they will be allowed. The simple question is when? My sources say 2013 big game season. The only discussion to be had, is everybody guestimating when the xbows will be allowed in archery season and maybe whether or not they will be allowed in archery only areas (like westchester).
  6. No, but I have been to Little General Outfitters in PA. I went last fall. PM me if you want details. It's a great deal. I am going back this year again. http://www.littlegeneraloutfitters.com/
  7. Everybody knows who Jimmer Fredette is! BYU phenom from upstate NY. I believe he won the scoring title in all of NCAA basketball his last year. Anyway, he looks overmatched in the NBA.
  8. Leaving for Arizona Sunday....hopefully will come back with some pics of a nice a Tom!
  9. I practice in my parents backyard in Putnam County. You dont know anybody who has 40 yards of yard/woods to practice at?
  10. I guess theres only 1 way for someone to do it. Cut a hole your pocket, fill it with seeds, and walk around state land.
  11. Any pics of the goat? This all sounds interesting.
  12. what would a world record spike be? 2 16" tines, or like 20"+ tines?
  13. Monster Buck! Congrats.....very white antlers!
  14. Sounds cool...good luck! Im already going to Wyoming for Mule Deer/Antelope combo in October. Hunting 10/1-10/5. http://beartrak.com/index.html
  15. .270 Weatherby Magnum or 7MM Weatherby Magnum.
  16. 186 on Jan. 1st......... 177.8 this morning........getting there.....4-5 hunting trips a year doesnt help, they always all have amazing food.
  17. If I won massive amounts, I would definitely begin to plan many many trips and attempt to complete the North American Slam. I believe there are 32 species.
  18. No idea on the rules.....but wish NY would do it for us. In Pennsylvania, many parcels of state land have food plots that are maintained regulary by the state.
  19. Im done talking about it....I made my point....dont brag about a 16 pointer and not show a pic, dont brag about 10lb bass and dont show a pic, dont brag about a bullet going through house and not show a link to the article from the newspaper. I won't respond to this thread anymore........
  20. Growalot the video is a few years old....im 27, my Dad is 57. There is a full page article in North American Hunter about my Dad and the 2 wolves he shot, about them being # 2 and # 5 all time in British Columbia, and about how he went on 4 hunts before this and a total of like 30-40 days without ever seeing a wolf. I will take a pic if you would like? Also you can check my posts from this year and see a pic of my Dad and his 7 pointer this year, etc. I got everything you could possibly want to prove it all.........and why is that? ? BECAUSE ITS A TRUTHFUL STORY! Actually, If you zoom the pic of the mount, you can see the magazine article framed in front of it. The plaque on the rock of the mount says the date, the name of the frozen lake he shot it on, and British Columbia, Canada. Babine Outfitters is not made up....that must be a joke. They are very well known, especially as one of the best goat guides in the world.
