  1. I Don't Like This! Think it's completely uncalled for! Did you donate anything?
  2. When I was working 8 cams a field, I had a failure rate better than 20% / year. Just expected on purchasing 2 new cams a year, to replaced failed ones. Business inclined though.
  3. Great way to learn. I started back in the mid 70"s with a family friend that managed 100+ swarm. He taught me things most books don't touch. I only wish I knew half the knowledge he did, and was lost when he passed. This is my 43rd year, on a small scale and I still enjoy the time in the middle of bee haven. Good luck and "bee safe."
  4. Don't forget the snowshoes Eddie. Their's still 16 inches of snow on the level here, with a crust just enough to almost support body weight; then break through to ones knees.
  5. At least wear a veil with a safari hat. I don't like them in my face when they get nasty. They sure can tell you if a thunder shower is coming, LOL. Betterbee in Greewich, New York are some great bee equipment suppliers. Nosema disease takes it toll when bee have NFW in the winter. Last winter was bad enough. This winter was far worse.
  6. What a nice way to kick into Spring. During a thaw makes it all the nicer!
  7. Don't change a scoring system that has worked for 3 seasons. It's simple and effective!
  8. Looking at all these deer heads on the wall, it's all about the ones that were " almost" that stick in my mind the most. I wouldn't even know where to begin, LOL.
  9. The permit is for the transportation of bees and bee keeping equipment off your property. New York Agriculture and Markets require an address so an inspector may check for disease.
  10. Natural swarms cost the price of gas.
  11. I'm not even going to bother to voice my opinion here, as it doesn't matter to most of you anyway. We have a great agricultural college right in our back door yard. Get in touch with them, to see what they think.
  12. We'll isn't this nice, turn a valve in a beehive, and like magic, honey flows right out. All for between $230 & $600. Just send me your money, and we'll do the rest. No need to worry about shipping charges, we're figure that out later. These people showed run for political office, LOL.
  13. On a related topic; Two hens came under the bird feeder Sunday morning. They had their wings extended; feet moving 90 miles a minute sledding on their bottoms through the deep snow. I also had a snow owl come in to land in the nearby tree.
  14. While tapping maple trees the last two days through knee - waist deep snow, I've noticed the buds are out more than usual. Heard a robin singing Monday when the dun popped out, a sure sign.
  15. In September, I've counted as many as 90 dove sitting on a power line, in the same spot every year. They seem to favor certain locations.Migration time, I would suppose. Wouldn't mind eating a few.
  16. Nice to see the survey. Something not seen much in this state.
  17. Saying goodbye to one of the coldest, if not the coldest February of 125 years of record keeping at the Buffalo Airport. There were 9 robins in the Sumac trees this morning. I almost feel over, LOL.
  18. Always scouting for turkey. I do hope to see more than just carcasses.
  19. I see the interest most, but not all have in the adoption of laws in New York. They slammed the first knife laws through, about as quick as the S.A.F.E. act was passed and adopted. This one most likely will go through just as quick, with lawmakers in Albany, not having the ability to stand up to the correct issues that should be addressed. It;s not the weapons lawmakers; but it's people behind those weapons, for how they chose to use them for evil purposes. This is another piece of the 2nd amendment right being taken away from you, it's citizens. Most of you, don't even give a dam!
  20. I don't miss a week. Hard to believe it's been on six years. I have emailed Mr Woods in the past. He'll give a personal reply when he's able.
  21. Iroquois Wildlife Refuge is 20 minutes from Buffalo east on Interstate 90. Thousands of acres of state and federal land. Excellent hunting for several species.
