Checked the rain gauge this morning. Nearly an inch and a half here. It was drier than a frogs hair here.

Nice pics grow. Are you seeing any poults yet?

I have obtained several legal options n this topic. Bear in mind, none of them official. Like any other law written in this great land of ours, several gray areas lurk beneath our vary feet, when it comes to knife laws. It is true that a spring assisted knife may be carried, while in procession of a current hunting, fishing, and or trapping license, New York state law defines acquiring one in any way, shape or form to be illagal. As far as blade length is concerned, the best option is to check with local authorities . I do know for a fact, that Monroe county, as we'll as New York city have strick blade length requirements. NewYork also has many definitions, when it comes to the term, dangerous knife. It is left up to the arresting officer, as well as the courts.

It's time to have elected officials run the DEC. , instead of appointed ones. Then a program can be amended that has more chance of working.

We lucked out last night. Therm said 36 at 5 this morning with a pretty good stiff breeze. The Arctic tomatoes came through with flyng colors. Had tires laid over which helps also. -

Most any good feed store sells soy seed. I remember paying $65 per bag back then. -
First corn plots
landtracdeerhunter replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
We had a 100 acre bean field not far from a little 5 acre piece I planted to corn 3 years ago. I tried broadcasting some left over roundup ready soys between the rows and rototilled them in, covering about an inch. They grew well enough to pod but on a dry year, the corn tends to rob the moisture from the soys to an extent. Deer nibbled some of the corn and soys next to the woods, but for the most part, left most of it alone. Corn turned out well also feeding well into February, following year. Know one can really say for sure, it will fail, unless you try it. -
Pretty serious . Thanks for posting.

This has been an early year. We can't loose sight that it is still only May 20th. Still plenty of cold weather to the north, to blow over us. -
Really! Does only.....

Nice to see the NYS. DEC finally admitting that one more of their plans have failed. -
Had a very vocal hen that really fired up the woods through 5:15 am.. Gobbles behind, in front, and off to one side. I really didn't know which way to turn. Had a bird closing to my right. In changing positions, I nearly had a turkey fly into the side of my face. Bird came in silent, crap flew out of it when it launched. Shot seconds later, found out a neighbor tried shooting it out of mid air. He claimed it was a red head, he's been after.Have no idea how he knew that.

I have come across a couple nesting turkey along a west hedgerow in red clover. I don't cut this area till 4th of July as it is also a favored area for fawn placement. They seem to favor red clover over alfalfa, for some reason.

ATV Features & Purposes

A little Suzuki 250 2 wd is all I need. It will do everything I ask out of it within reason. From spreading grass seed, hauling a small tadem traler full of firewood, maple sap barrel, pull a 8 foot roller, or an ocassional deer in season. Picked it up for a song with 10 hours on it, like 10 years ago. Change the oil in it regularly, keep it lubed in the pinch points, and keep the tires inflated. It will last for a long time. -
Maybe only one thing makes a deer act like that, a fawn nearby.

We had hail and a lightning strike on the oak.

Wind advisory here. Their not kidding. Moved to a safer spot. No turks yet.

Grow, if the year turns out like it did two years ago, I will give you a couple swarms with hive bodies, free of charge.

Sunshine is hot in this ground blind. Hens, hens, and more hens. They came in quite close eyeing me up. Their boyfriends must be on other dates. Not a sign. Found several broken shells on the walk out yesterday. More predictor hunting this year.

You make it look easy. Congrats!

My turn? Gosh darn it I didn't screw up yesterday morning. Surprise! Tom and a hen came in silent at 9 o'clock. I was set up for 12 o'clock in a ground blind. Turned my head to the left to fast. That hen made one of the loudest noises ever heard from a hen. The whole works waisted no time, shall I say leaving the scene. Beautiful big tom. My heart just sank.

Their coming in silent here since start. Makes for a more challenging hunt.
