HuntingNY.com Is A Rocking
landtracdeerhunter replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in General Chit Chat
Well, this thread is headed in the wrong direction. I started it to show how many users are still logging in for the worth while content. Please don't spoil the thread here with differences of opinion. Let's play the positive card for a change, shall we. -
One hundred users in the last 24 hours. Very nice in February!
-
Tremendous job. I like everything about that mount. Thanks for posting.
-
Did you get the mount back? Pics?
-
I know the one was a drop from an earlier year. The other, not so sure about know.
-
I know of only one buck that dropped his antlers here. Got a bow shot view of him on the 29th of December during late season.
-
Neither of my shed finds are recent drops.

The other administrators have tried to communicate with burmjohn with no success. Why would he avoid them? I think they see the writing on the wall.
-
Found a couple.
-
Well the spam quit. It was getting out of control.

Kinda nice on here chatting with all you folks. Hate to lose the option. Be nice to have a plan in place, for that one day it may not be.
-
I think luberhill was open up on the neck area. I remember they posting a cam pic later in deer season, where it still looked pretty bad

A pat on the back doesn't hurt.

So, this Invision and Purging stuff. Is their like flaws that come into the site, that can't be repaired?
-
Maybe some technical difficulties.

As far as the antlers go. I don't know a single soul that doesn't like big antlers. Big bucks yield a lot of meat. Their less work to process, hardly no fat. Doe have their place, but they don't get near the recenition the antlers do, hanging on the wall.

That's take off the rose colored glasses. How the hell is anyone going to recruit new hunters, in such a hostile hunting state?
-
Not this particular buck. He came out, walked up to the camera, smelled the strap, walked behind it to the next scrape. He was on a mission though. Nice 5 1/2 year old.
-
I think the threads fine if they keep it clean. Nothing wrong with a good discussion to clarify points.

Man has hunted for thousands of years. The driving source runs deep in the veins. It just comes naturally.

My parents were actively involved in 4H in the 70s where one of my projects was to raise pheasants from chicks. Quite a long time ago, but they would be released along with a ECO. on the farm 15 to 20 weeks old, as I recall. Made for some really challenging pheasant hunting. We also took the Red Bone and Black and Tan Raccoon dogs out to do some fantastic late night hunting. The family squirrel, rabbit, and woodcock hunt on our farm as well as the neighbors. In those days, we all knew each other in the neighborhood. We all hunting on each other's property. Not like it is today with all the land being bought up, divided and you stay off my property attitude. I didn't know it then, but it had a big influence on what I would be doing, the rest of my life. It was a great start in life growing up. I would never want to ever trade it.

That 175 6/8 gross, I would think. After dry down period, would be nice to see gross- net score. Will have to buy a NYBBC book from Antlers Outdoors.

It just depends on personal taste. Remember that everyone's input is just that. Now I'll give you mine,LOL. I don't like the yellow looking varnish on the natural wood. I like the wood to stand out with no gloss look to it. I would never ever paint that wood, unless you like the look of horizonal painted Wayne's coating. Painting that wood would be a sin. Don't do it! Change the trim appearance.

To harvest a big buck like this one is the greatest experience ever, to a deer hunter. To get two chances is unheard of.
