  1. How to define a structure or, farm building in use is one of those grey areas. I bet an ECO. would give u a ticket, for being to close, if it boiled right down to it. This whole setup seems like a receipt for disaster. Things could blow up in your face pretty quickly. Better safe then sorry.
  2. I remember that, not very long ago. I'd bail, before it's to late.
  3. Thanks for the pics grow. Hope that wasn't this years snow, LOL. Do u find the slanting ladder is a little easier to climb verses the vertical one. Didn't u make one out of a plastic commercial pallet?
  4. And then they wonder why posted signs go up, and land owners say no to hunters.
  5. Similar situation happen to me last year. Nice buck, I couldn't close the deal on last week of bow, got hit, last night of muzzleloader season. Beer can bases. I was in deer melt down for 2 months. Maybe I take this deer stuff to seriously, LOL.
  6. I would think if they push deer, they are hunting. Got 2 ECO's that say this is a gray area. It could go either way. Think anytime the laws are in question, it becomes a gray area. I believe, that things like this, are left out for a reason. Make your own concussions. It would be so easy to nail it down.
  7. I can totally relate to how u guys feel on these big deer. The dedication u guys have to these deer, go far beyond the average hunter. These big guys have one advantage, their still out there and 75% of hunters are out of the fields for the year. They wouldn't get that big, if they weren't so dam smart. Good luck on your persuit, and hope to see your hands around their antlers.
  8. I'm looking to build a wood treestand. Know it's a little late in the year, but I have a great spot that has had 2 ladder stands stolen out of this year. Next step is a fixed wood stand.Maybe deter the party responsible. I know some of the members have posted some of their homemade stands which looked really great. If u have some old pics of some homemade stands, please post them to give me some options. I respect your comments too. Oh, and I have a Maple tree about 18" on the butt, can be used to attach. Thanks.
  9. Their worth the stink. Like a deer magnet. Sold on their use.
  10. Thanks splitg2. Finding out that after a series of hard freezes, they start to stink. Had the wind blowing towards me last night. Rotten cabbage smell. Seven deer came in. If one of the heavy weight doe would of came in at legal light, She'd be hanging, LOL.
  11. Congrats again on getting venison in the freezer.
  12. Understand the DEC were handing out tickets last year ,in the southern tier, for not having a writing instrument on your person.
  13. Doesn't the DEC file reports right along. Thought it's been posted here other years.
  14. Congrats to the person who got the Niagara County buck.
  15. Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone. Good old oven turkey. No turkey in the smoker this year. Last year of nearly falling out of the treestand with the smell of cooking turkey filling the air will be averted, LOL.
  16. Here's a little 150 lb buck that was feeding on the young timothy grass for 15 minutes in front of me before laying down.Total of 33 minutes out before following a doe back in the woods. It was pretty frosty white yesterday, along with a cheap camera, so the quality isn't all that great. I passed on him.
  17. Holy smokes, sounded like WW III here, both Saturday and Sunday. Maybe everybody come here, LOL. All hell broke loose at 6:43 am. Saturday. Now yesterday and today were pretty quiet, but blame that on those mean old companies not giving vacation time to every hunter. My son said he has never heard so many shots, as he heard in northern 9F, on opening.
  18. Very good question Eddie. Video doesn't answer the question Will the second load ignite, or just get blown out the barrel? Think Neil somebody ( can't think of last name) showed a test on my video with the Winchester muzzleloader. I see if I can locate it.
  19. Hens can make as much or more noise than a rooster, except they don't crow. One hen gets to cackling, and the whole works get in the act. This also happens when they lay an egg. Remember, chicken manure stinks, LOL. I'm getting bronze turkeys next year at $8 a pop, straight run.
  20. Now that's a BUCK! Congrats to the hunter.
