Had a good morning in the turkey wood. Birds were sighted evening before. So we set out at 630 am and had a good idea where they roosted. Got in under them kicking a few out as we set up. At dawn they lit up. Calls from all around. Fly down and 2 qick shots and 2 birds down. A few min later a 3rd shot missed by the young hunter on his 1st fall hunt. We reset after one hunter left and called about for an hour have 3 birds slip in unnoticed by young hunter finally it worked out and bird came in where he was looking . And he connected on a young jake. Forgot to get my pic till i got back to barn but couple nice ones in woods.

Why not hunt your isolated. Sore and tired so you wont fidget.. just line up help to track and gut and remove deer from field. Seriously get well soon!

Hunting should be a personal activity . As long as your enjoying your time afield thats great.. i love my 30 year old camo. 30 year old stands i maintain.. Not an issue you may lose inner loins if diaphram was ruptured. Otherwise unless your taking flank meat nothing is effected. If deer is left and bloated then whole other issues exist.

Had these knives made for giveaway for 500th deer off my place as well as 30 year anniversary of owning hunting camp property. Handles still being final shaped and polished.. the 3 with orange bands are give away knives as the knife maker is also a butcher. So one for bow one for gun and one for biggest body at his butcher shop.

Had a permanent stand the deer would peek over the top of ridge at if it was empty they would pop over the top if it was occupied they slunk away out of sight.. put another portable stand up 50 yards from previous leaving the permanent up..the deer looked at permanent stand but met their end from the portable... deer pattern us as much as we try to pattern them.

Id drop it now while still somewhat green..

Heavy ,unwieldy and cant stay cocked all day as limbs stress and blow up. Nearly impossible to shoot close to a tree. Or behind you against tree as lims limit you available arc of shooting..

Id focus on spring spray gly . plant a cereal grain and clover
