  1. When he dies.. the story will come out thru his family, he might not like the b&c or pope n young but his family will look to cash in if in fact it's real!
  2. snowing again... just when the south slopes and fields were almost melted off..
  3. I think the traditions have changed like the start of gun season from mon to sat, The passing down of out sport has become harder as land use and access has changed as well as public opinion. Does it mean it will dissapear? I hope not..Will it decrease most definately as families become smaller and more single parent familys arise(tough to have time to take kids out to enjoy and learn about the great outdoors when all you have time to do is work to surport the family) the problem is a lot of kids are introduced to the sport of hunting via television shows which show huge deer/turkey/game in general being taken, they might decide to try hunting but are soon discouraged because they haven't seen the huge game that tv makes seem around every corner! I can't imagine a kid with non-hunting parent(s) joining our ranks as there is limited information and instruction available at a local level, all they have is the tv or video games. So maybe when they are older and have access to hunt...but by then they will be involved in golf ,sports, or anything else but hunting.. One question how many hunters have taken a child out hunting/hiking/fishing that they were not related to,or friend of their parent???
  4. Well at least the state has lowered the age for gun, and a bill is out there for bow. No matter what you have to have the chance to introduce kids young, a bb gun can do wonders!. unfortunatly neighborhoods have changed and its no longer possible for a kid jut to walk out the backdoor and start plinking! I can't say i see a turn around in the future as long as parents do not have time or access to land to get kids out there!! I grew up with the advantage of a family farm down the street where the great outdoors was ours to explore!! now that farm is postage stamp lots with fences between every yard....hard to explore past 60' wide and 120' deep.... Not that all kids will want to hunt..My younger brother never had an interest untill last year when a buisness trip took him to africa and he was invited on a safari, the guide was impressed with his ability to shoot (guess that bb gun paid off) and he was able to get a blue wildabeast! My father would be laughing his heart out thinking his "non hunting" son wouldn't shoot a deer but went hunting in africa at 38 years old!! I have no doubts that unless you own or have access to private land hunting will become a much reduced activity in nys...
  5. There was an increase in the number of older bucks taken in my neighborhood, part by hunters wanting bigger bucks, part was by the rut(second rut) falling during thanksgiving week, i believe. Although i know the guys that hunt my camp report their deer my towns total take was only 286 deer which means my camp took more than 7% of the total? I'm sorry but if i include deer i know 2 neighbors took it raises it to 10% this would be on about 1/2 square mile!! Their numbers have to be way off as my town is approximatly 25 square mile or more in size. assuming just a 1/4 that take per square mile would be 375 deer for the town! just adding up the deer on my street from the camps i know is 43 deer or 15 % of their reported take for the town, this on a approximatly 700 acres or a little over a square mile... this is just from the camps i know had sucess. as for their buck take per square mile the deer i know taken would be approximatly 14 buck per square mile. way above their 3.1 -4 they say my area had, and not >10% below objective, and above their 6.1-9 total take per square mile, closer to 14-18 per square mile or almost 50% error on their part.
  6. Dragged a 210 lbs monster about a mile in 3 ft of snow uphill.. no 4 wheeler or tractor took me 4 1/2 hrs. But iwould do it again!
  7. I think the biggest reason people assume its fake is that "why doesn't he take the money and have the skull checked?" I can't answer that the only one that can is mitch, but i don't agree witha lot of peoples opinion/morals on this site but, that doesn't make them criminials/liars either!
  8. My favorite is still SKYLINE, or ASAT for stand hunting. the rest just seem to dark... realtree mossy oak ok for ground hunting..
  9. I can't speak for bubba's gun but my knight and tradition single shot have external knurled chokes that you can unscrew by hand.. still takes a bit but at least you don't need to find a choke wrench.
  10. My knight is a tk 2000 just make sure you can get the disks to hold the primer! Other than that its a great gun! You must remove the choke to load it as well.
  11. That would make a good poll...who would get voted off first.or place in order of leaving... lol!!
  12. We could do it in an old cabin, and have viewer questions answerd live! lol!!
  13. Just wondering if i could put , antler, pat, dave, arrow, sits, pygmy into a reality tv show like big brother?? i reallt think we could all lose our day jobs and make some serious $$$ . Just a thought
  14. well acording to their numbers i took 7% of my towns take off my property.. if i include 3 neighbors its 9.5%...some how i think their numbers are off....
  15. I think its right to give the option to the kid and the parent...
  16. Hmm, sarcasiam escapes most on this site it seems, as well as inteligent fact based debate! But it does have a high entetainment value in a monty python sort of way.........just need some good old cut out animation and my day would be complete!
  17. We need to stop thinking about the rest of the world thinks and worry about here!!
  18. An adult chuck can give a pretty good bite! Sounds like you should get in an early hunt!
  19. Seems a lot easier to photo shop a pic than to create a rack, sew it into a deer head secure enough to lift said head for pictures, drag the donor buck ungutted out into the woods make a fake blood trail without disturbing the leaves and not to mention put a arrow in said donor buck with blood. then run back get a video camera make up some scripted dialog, then go get said buck weighed on certified scales.... hmm..
  20. Yeah the bear doesn't look happy at all... of course i'm not either can't find sheds under 10"of snow..
  21. I'll give the benifit of the doubt, the antler burr thing is funny.. no deer has ever had burs that far apart,or you could say grown horns that large, and to compare it to a deer in texas is even worse different subspecies not as large of skelatal structure.. lot of deer out there to check, plus maybe it was this abnormality that alllowed the rack to grow the way it did. as for the bondo like substance around the skull plate i know a lot of people would of wanted to protect that skull plate from cracking looks like a lot of weight on it espicially if cut to thin,i have seen guys put boards inbetween racks that are close to record size so the dont shrink!. So maybe it was bondoed to hold it together? The fact he doesn't want it x rayed? well i can't explain that like i can't explain a lot of peoples personal beliefs on this site, maybe he feels he doesn't lie and doesn't feel he should prove it?. I seem to remember some money exchanged or legal papers being signed saying he would not contest milo hansons record though. It will come out when he passes and a relative brings the rack forward. Really i don't care about world records most people that get them are lucky like winning the lottery,I don't see any special skill that they posess that makes them a better hunter(didn't milo shoot his deer in the rack?) maybe that where deer hunting has gone wrong to begin with!
  22. [better? font=]Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming, Co-Chair of Obama's deficit commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats. August, 2010. [font=]1.. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS. 2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63). 3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a[font=]scheme that would have made Bernie Madoff proud. 4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN. 5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills. 6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off 1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pat 3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance? 4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies? </blockquote>
