  1. Same size hole in and out with very little tissue damage. Might as well push a pencil through. Or shoot a slugger. Didn't find that to be true in our case but once we pushed them we had full penetration. Don't recall any bullet recovery after we got the powder charges up . I do remember one guy had one that looked like we could load it again... notbsure if he did try . Back then we used loose powder and 117 grains of powder was alot . My pro hunter I shoot 3 / 50 grain pellets with tc super glides. I don't recall what grain bullets they are at the moment .
  2. Never did any real testing just what I have seen in the deer killed with them . When we as a group first got into inlines that was the hot bullet. Quite a few of us killed with them but the first couple years we kept bumping the powder charge up to get results . My remington 54 caliber liked them at 117 grains of pyrodex. Started at 85 grains and they penciled through.
  3. Power belts are very hard . Have to push them hard to get them to do anything in a deer . Pencil through for the most part.
  4. I will take the heat off ... Wife shot her doe with federal fusion 243 ... entered behind shoulder at a steep angle forward crossed the neck hitting far leg in the femur shattering the leg into alot of pieces . DRT. Opposite leg appears to have been extended pretty far . Took alot of probing to find the bullet track im still amazed at the damage
  5. Dont know what they go for now but I have paid as little as $18 and up to $ 23 per box . But I bought a small surplus over the last few years . Last time they were on the shelf they were 34 . Has been over 3 years since I bought a box .
  6. Lol back when they came out ... I wasn't around for that. Back when I started hunting with a rifle we hunted with reloaded ammo a friend of my grandfathers use to roll. When he passed we started shooting remington corloks. So it was probably early 80s anyhow
  7. I honestly belive remington changed the mix of lead a while back. Thinned down the jacket . Back when they first came out they were great . I used the alot when I hunted PA. First new box I bought when they opened rifles to my area didn't group well and the meat damage was ridiculous. And yes I know enough to stay off the shoulder.
  8. I personally can't stand a remington corelock in any caliber. Damn things seem to grenade no matter where I hit them . I'm partial to the nosler partitions.. and federal fusions. The fusions work well out of my 270,30/06, 243,and 308 . Although I like the performance of the nosler bullets ... they do tend to be expensive.
  9. Love a good bullet ,caliber, gun debate ... lead verses jacketed verses monolithic... perhaps we should take it to the fire arms sub.
  10. My back yard. Wonder where that one was hiding . Darn nice buck . Wonder if I know the family.
  11. Lol would be just like pygmy to come back with a wise acre remark.
  12. Just thinking. If I owned land that had a snow mobile trail and my area was opted out there would be gates and posted signs up so fast it wouldn't even be funny.
  13. Dont get it .. people don't have common sense. Destroy the chuckle thread with crass vulger posts. Point fingers lay blame on the mods picking on me . Now we have to burn down the political thread to retaliate. WTF.
  14. Lol I was thinking the same thing
  15. Lol no notification... no public announcement no public plans .... typical pissing money away ... what else is new.
  16. Congrats to the wife now tell us about the rifle. Got to love a mannlichter stocked rifle .
  17. Seems a long way off in the southern tier.
  18. Beat me to it .... I was just looking at it on dec website
  19. I'm pretty sure these were on sale in latest BPS add
  20. I tie an ugly fly .... I have an even uglier cast ... but I can catch fish . Good article.
