Lol you're almost right... not saying I don't euro nymph ... I just don't tie the euro patterns . I have been at it a year or so. Just a matter of ordering the hooks and split tungsten beads . Honestly outside of the sparse patterns we have been fishing tight line with weighted nymphs for years .

I'm good I looked at a u tube video ... I will have to sub the hook and bead as I don't have euro hooks . But I got the jest of the tie .

Must be using a guppy net .... looked bigger ... nice fish .. im thinking small streams this weekend . Going to whip up a couple of these blow torch flies have a better picture?

I realize that they are a great tool and alot of fun . I am not condemning the drone nor am I condemning all operators ... but this guy was just as annoying as the guy chasing you down the lake wake jumping with a jet ski. What made it worse is I fish for peace and quiet .. relaxation.... There was cut cornfields all around to fly in ....

I've always wanted a drone but could never justify the money for one . I have had a couple of bad experiences with people intruding with drones . I don't know laws and regs but I do know courtesy. Most recently I was fishing a public river ... public spot . Guy launches a drone and flys it up and down the river for a few minutes drops down to about 6 feet off the water in front of me .. I didn't respond. He proceeded to fly up and down in front of me 3 or 4 times .. travels down stream proceeds to hover just off the water over my float . Finally I proclaimed in a rather unpleasant tone "Really!" He flew off down stream to pester the next guy . He wasn't as polite as I was. After shouting alot of 4 letter pleasantries as well as letting him know where he would put the drone if he didn't get away he made a heck of a false cast almost hitting it . Guy finally landed packed up and left with his kid in tow . When he was a ways up the hill he yelled down thanking us for ruining his day . I wish I really could have ruined his day with a load of birdshot.

I have been fly fishing so long ,the last time I used a spin rod, I caught myself trying to give flip mends with mono.... it doesn't work so well.

Not that I have used it in years I have a micro lite St Croix 2-4lbs 5'6" that I used for small streams. Great little stream rod .

I like that .... "Collecting Streams"... would have been nice to start a pic album back in the day .

I try to hit one or two new pieces of water a year fly fishing . I have fished some duds .... should have fished it 10 years ago when it was good waters . I have met some good guys and found some gems . Just some trips to satisfy my wander lust. Most I never go back to fish more than once .

There's another stream over that way and to the south that's on my list to fish this year . Was planning to hit it last year but covid and being put on shifts as an essential worker put the breaks on that trip . Oriskany creek looks like a decent trout stream . Any of you fish it ?

Not the falls area but I have fished West Canada creek just south of the dam area.

Not sure of your experience level . I would imagine if your a new shooter and your right handed. Your pushing your bow hand away on the release and or pulling your release hand away from your face. Following through is part of the basic mechanics of good shooting form. Just a guess. Have somebody record you shooting and study your form . I wouldn't worry about moving pins until you have consistency.

Its been years since I did the gorge trip . Always had to leave early do to the age of my mentor and how long it took for him to climb out . Its a beautiful spot .

I met Winnie Dettie back in the late 80s early 90s. Nice woman . Marry is a a great gal very knowledgeable. Joe is a heck of a tyer. Mary gave me a quick lesson on how to tie their coffen fly to the correct proportions. New shop is in Livingston Manor . Was at the new shop for the first time last spring . Couldn't go in do to covid.

Had a great day my buddy got a huge male 12 to - 15lbs. Hooked way more than I landed . I started out swinging with the spey rod . Love the ferocious take of fresh chrome on the swing . Late in the day I was working the pin through a deep narrow channel when I picked up a brute.. After a long fight I was trying to muscle the fish into a ledge where I could land her and I committed the cardinal sin of reaching up the rod and applying pressure snapping my rod losing the fish . Still was a great trip and now I have a brand new pin rod . I think its time to find a net .

Not sure if its still open at this time. It was an exotic dancers club for a while. Im to pretty to be caught out that way after dark.

Well that sucks . I honestly think fasteddie did a very good job . Pretty fair and even handed. Some of the stuff posted was pretty crude. I just kept my opinion to myself and tried to ignore it . I'm not saying I'm an angel but I believe some people do go over the top for what this forum is. The few forums I mod in the past would have given a warning or two. Then permanent bans . Chronic abusers will destroy the community. Just hope this crap settles down . It's about the group as a whole not one person seeking attention.

I would offer to take you to the last lap for some birthday entertainment... but they don't open before you go to bed . Have a great birthday !
