  1. I break down to quarters and loins neck roast . Then work a quarter at a time . I break down the quarters at the table . Breaking down quarters would be more garage time but would make it easier to handle at the table .
  2. Different way of doing things. Looks like it would be easier breaking down the reara hanging than laying it out on the cutting board .
  3. Checked all of it i can't find anything ... as a matter of fact I have been getting e mails from hunt ny .
  4. Up at 5:30.... took dogs out ... it was cold... had to help miss ellie out of the snow in my crocks . Checked thermometer on the way passed... -6. Not hunting in this . No way to get to the stand without sweating my arse off then sit in negative numbers.
  5. We had 14 inches on the deck at 4 am .... over 20 most places in the drive and deeper spots going to the shed . That was Horseheads. Had the walk ... deck and drive cleaned out at 530 and plow truck buried it again 4 feet . Tractor back out .. clean it out again. On the road 10 minutes to 6 ... drive to watkins glen drop the wife off and all the way back to Corning walked through the gate with 5 minutes to spare .
  6. Yes happened to me yesterday
  7. Most of my favorite grouse spots are gone . The 1100 acre lease i use to have was loaded with them . I miss hunting with my gsp . I should start looking for some new spots .... and perhaps a new grouse dog .
  8. I learned to drive standard . I was driving 18 wheelers to an off site lot after washing them when I was 14. A few years ago I had to drive a young lady's jeep home as she had to much to drink and they couldn't find anybody who could drive stick. One of my first cars was a ford pinto wagon. 4 speed... we called it the pie wagon.
  9. Nothing to report.. no deer no turkeys not even a squirrel. Set for 2 hours. Had to get home change tire on tractor. Remove the mowing deck put on the loader. Get diesel and gas run the snowblower.. take trailer back to BIL. Having lunch and coffee... then off to MIL. To check her snow blower . Then I have to get home cleaned up dressed for service. I'm out of thank you's...
  10. Thanks guys ... she is in a better place . Kind of wish I had gotten a muzzloader pistol . Would put more interest in hunting late season.
  11. Thinking about going out with muzzleloader in the am .. need to get away for a bit ... lost my mother Friday. Have spent the last 2 weeks running between work and sitting with her. Just burned out I guess. Would love to get another deer .
  12. My stand ... use to be called the tree of death by the neighbors grand kids ... I use to put the empty shotgun hulls on the branches when I killed a deer. At one point there was 2 dozen empties on the lower branches . Dont know what ever happened to the old ones ... now that I shoot rifle I save all brass.
  13. Big plot blind... on the big plot... lower pine .... in the lower pine . My stand ... its my stand has been there for 30 years.. wifes stand and wifes blind on wifes plot . Road stand ..located on the logging road between wifes plot and little plot ... little plot blind....on little plot .... stand in the turn around .... upper stand out back ... Bill's stand and lower stand out back . Now we will have the sheshack on the big plot ...
  14. Back when I was a boy we use to get kept home from school to be used as drivers when needed . Back then we use to drive whole hills multiple properties.... and yes I have used pots and spoons to scare them up .
  15. I have used a slingshot to drive deer out of a standing corn field and creek bottoms in the past with success. I wasn't kidding. There was a article written years ago about a guy that used wind up alarm clocks to push deer up a mountain to a known escape route where he took his target buck . Just saying.
  16. Sling shot and rocks ?.. setbabwind up alarm clock on the opposite side.?
  17. Most guns right handed will have a bump on the stock where the palm fits . That is palm swell. Then the stock will have a slight bend to help the eye center the bead .This is cast.. Cast very but aparently start at around 15 degrees. If you take a gun that has cast while holding the barrel sight down the barrel to the stock its more noticeable.
  18. Loss of another great ... I use to listen to him on 8 track. One of my mothers favorite.
  19. Pygmy will be all over the beaver meat... Beautiful cat ... mount or fur sale ? Guess I missed part of your post.
  20. I ended up with the winchester 101 ultimate sporting o/u from bps. Got a smoking deal on it as they had the gun marked at the field grade price . I tried to explain it to the guy behind the counter but he said I was wrong .... ok saved me a chunk of money ... I can be wrong all day long for $500 .
