Up at 4 am . Wife and I were planning on hitting the woods for the day. She isn't feeling well so she went back to bed . Guess I will let her sleep for a while and do a midday sit . Tomorrow my uncle ,cousin and I are going on a stateland hunt . We usually do well hunting together.

I have thought about getting one of the winch systems that hook into the trailer hitch. But the deer i shoot are so small I can still one hand them in the back of my truck. Congrats on the deer Dan.

I am interested in responses... my 2 safes are full . I have no interest in putting another 1000 plus pound safe in on the basement. But I need more storage. I have looked at getting a couple of smaller safes . Looked at a couple smaller liberty. My other ones are brownings.

Skull cap wrapped in leather... if it wasnt getting full mount was always the way before European mounts.

Just took them off . Rotated every 3000 miles with oil changes on my 1/2 ton ford. 24 k and 23 months they are done . Just put on duler revos light truck . Had them on dodge and they wore like iron got 60k plus on them.

I have to wonder from my experience is reflective of certain materials and color. Such as the fletching on plastic vaines appear brighter. Kind of like the uv whitners put in detergents . The other thing I have noticed is colors of gray tends to have alot of blue in its pigment. I had an old fabric blind I made of pvc and camo fabric. It sun faded over a couple of years and all the grays in the twig patterns turned blue . I do wash my clothes in uv blocker soap . And spray it down . I'm careful to wash my clothes after scrubbing washer and dryer hang outdoors . Store in totes . Back in the 80s I use to hunt in military bdu. Never had an issue being seen until movement was detected. Late 80s and early 90s they started adding brightener to detergents . Then I started getting picked off more often . Just after that we started hunting tree stands . Then deer started looking up after a few years. Deer adapt. I'm not saying this is all factual but it is my observation.

I wear orange camo vest to break up outline orange hat and orange gloves . Throwback from hunting PA. I will not take it off while in the woods. I don't believe deer see orange. I belive deer see blue.

I guess I am 3 hrs away .

Yesterday in the am I didn't see any deer only heard 3 shots . No cars parked in the usual spots . Neither son or I layed eyes on a deer. Had to leave at 1100 to make it home for dinner. Back in the woods at 20 after 3 dark and over cast . Woods were very quiet no squirrels even . 4 pm heard the tell tail trot of deer coming up the property line . Pulled my 41 mag from chest holster and got ready . First deer up was a big doe. 2 fawns followed by another big doe .3 more fawns and another big doe . Let them all pass at 35 yds. Watched hoping there might be a buck in trail. All the deer filtered in behind me down wind . One big doe got nervous putting them all on alert. They eventually settled down and fed off. I took the time practicing shot positions with the revolver tracking them through the woods . The end of legal shooting light raced up on me with out another deer sighting. On the drive out in twilight I counted the shapes of 22 deer in the big green winter wheat field on top. Another day in the books . Forgot to set alarm last night so it will be a half day hunt . Have to dispose of 2 deer carcass and drop off stuff to my uncles house this morning . Good luck to all of you out this morning .

I'm back in as of 320. Bunch of does up on top in greenfields I don't have permission to hunt ... hope that's not all the deer on this side of the mountain. Seems dark back here in the pines for 3:30

There was some local guys here that were busted years ago for gut shooting bucks at night with a 22 mag . They would come back at day break and track the buck . Deerbwouldnt go far.. They would bed up and if not pushed they didn't go far Not sure about that buck but a critter could have started eating on the exit hole . This was steuben county.

Doesn't have to be but I'm not a fan of the can calls . I think they all sound alike and there's alot of them out there. The bellows can stick if they get moisture in them .

I'm in search of a new deer call . What are you guys using . Would like one that does buck and doe . My uncle is raving about extinguisher deer call .

Nothing glorious. Had 5 does sneaking through this morning last one was the biggest. Didnt present a great shot but paused in a thin spot at 40 yds . She was angling towards me i settled the red dot on the point of her shoulder. Planning a cross shot exiting far side ribs . I cocked the hammer on my 480 ruger super redhawk and squeezed. She dropped on the spot . The 400 grain slug entered high hitting spine exiting low behind far side shoulder.

Not broken persay... but my grunt tube doesn't sound right anymore. Dont know what happened but it sounds flat. Tried messing with the reed. Just can't make it sound like it did. Guess it's time for a new one ... shame because I really liked it .. older flextone .
