Never had to housbreak a older dog . I guess I would treat it like a pup . Everytime I get up it goes out . Same with wife . Take it back to same spot every time . Pick a spot . And leave a nugget so it reinforces the idea of the spot.... I'm not saying leave a mess but just a bit so it realizes that's the spot. With a pup if it wakes up it goes out . If it drinks it goes out if it eats it goes out . If it wakes at night it goes out . Then back to the crate no fuss no muss let it bark . Dont respond more than once a night if it barks in the middle of the night . A bark collar may be needed if it was kennel raised. Could try a silent whistle as a negative response. Stay the course be consistent. It will take time .

Independent dog . Is a good thing . Still needs to learn to come . When there young I always hide on them to play on there desire to be with me . I change directions every time they get to far ... if they dont pay attention I hide . When they find you it's a big fuss and a treat . Still had a few I had to put an e collar on . Some people think its cruel or not needed. All dogs have there own traits character. I have had some pretty head strong dogs . My first dogs was a big male setter . First time out he chased a pheasant acrossed a road and was hit and killed . Wouldn't stop . Or come reliably. My failure . At 14 it was a tuff lesson . Never to be repeated.

Narrowed down to ruger and drake . We have 2 weeks before we can pick him up . I'm thinking its ruger. I have final say ... I think .

Yes they did ... best thing out of mine . Probably 3 inches at 75 yds. Never shot farther than that on paper . That's with 18 inch barrel. 2and 3/4 inch shells . My uncle still shoots 3 inch ko out of his 1187 smooth bore.

Killed alot of deer with Ithaca deer slayer 12 guage . Mine was a Christmas present. When I was 14. Modified,full and slugs barrels. I use to shoot brennecki 1 1/8 through the smooth bore. Now she gets oiled twice a year and back in the safe. That's one of the guns I will be buried with.

Ellie gets her kong stuffed with biscuits when we leave. Other than that she doesn't play with them much. I have a kong ring she hasn't destroyed yet and the frisby.

We quit rawhide years ago do to an obstruction in one of our other dogs . $2000.00 in vet surgery. We watch her with anything we give her . Those antlers are curved enough I don't think she can swallow . When she wears them down I will replace them.

Bought a couple Christmas toys for my lab Ellie.3 toys 53 minutes . Destroyed . I bought most toys indestructible on the market. She destroyed them . Yesterday I went to the garage. Took out the box of old antlers I have collected. Cut the points off a scrub buck and ground edges. she is a happy pup.... nothing worse than having to take new toys away from your pup. I know they have been selling them for years but the wife didn't like the idea . Our vet approved antlers but wife dragged her feet. Wife said I better shoot a buck next year... I told her I have it covered. Theres 2 totes full in the garage.

Problem with used ruger 10/22 is you have to be careful. Some used ones get sold do to barrel getting shot out . Not a normal problem. Just know of a few that guys were ripping through 50 rd mags one after another. Then complained they were losing accuracy. I know of 2 ,that guys picked up , that couldn't hold a baseball group at 50 yds. They both got great deals ... including multiple banana clips to sweeten the deal. Not the guns fault just stupid people.
