I hunted Saturday afternoon from 1:30 pm till dark. I didn't see anything but another hunter.

hunted yesterday, 3:00 - dark had the entire areas to ourselves, a bit of swaying in the stand saw one BIG bodied deer @ 100yrds, buddy kicked up a buck walking

Anyone been out? I'm out now saw a doe and yearling... Went in to check on my stand after the storm and make sure everything was good. As approached my stand I noticed standing right underneath is at 12:30pm was a giant. No now in hand just went in to make sure all was ok and much to my surprise he was standing right there. He walked off smelling around but atleast I saw a big one during the day

Absolute devastation here in southern Nassau. Hands pretty tied. Want to get out this weekend but don't want to waste the fuel.

i hear you Waterman. This gas thing is scary. I had taken off friday and most of this coming week to spend a lot of time in the woods. But without fuel I simply can't go. Sucks. Not as much as having your house torn down. But it still sucks.

I can't possibly see myself waiting on these lines a mile long for gas. I think I'd rather just stay home and cancel all plans.

It didn't look like him Pete but the one I saw was huge and had great mass! Pushing over 200lbs at the hoof

Cool, get out there and get him. I headed out in the am, gotta stay local because of the gas situation. Still no power, this sucks!

I was out last night. I wanted to see what damage was done. The only thing was a few trees down and someone stole my trail cam that i put out last Thursday. I was hoping to get picture of the storm from the point of the deer and to see what they were doing after the storm. People like that give us all a bad name. I had to save up for a year to by it. To add insult to injury I didn't see any deer. (3:00-Dark).

In my stand , drove out to my furthest spot where I missed that big 8. Hope it pays off and wasn't a waste of gas. Nice cold morning!

Good luck geno! Looks like I will miss this week and probably most of the rut. Still have no power but generator is running strong. I will be slammed with work now (general contractor) hopefully will be able to get out midweek to check on a job out east and look for gas. Hearing mid island area has no lines?

the bucks are a little shy it seems,I have been out 3 times in the last 5 days,and every time I was able to get bucks to respond to rattling,only problem,none of them came in to fight,or watch, they just hung around out of range,this morning it was 28 degrees,all was perfect,saw a shooter,he never closed the gap at 60 yards tho,it is close!! good luck

Things are really heating up. Had a great hunt yesterday afternoon. Picked my daughter up from school and headed to my stand. Got in stand at 330 at 345 I see a decent 8 about 70-80 yards away, zig zagging head down sniffing. He leaves. About 15 minutes later I see a small buck in the same area. I decide to call to him for the hell of it. He starts coming to me, at the same time I look to the right and another buck is coming. He thinks the other deer grunted. They meet right in front of my stand 20 yards broadside. The both posture up, hair up, ears back, stiff legged for a fight. Right before they go at it here comes a doe running with a another buck chasing her. These 2 bucks run off to chase the doe too. 3 bucks chasing the one poor doe. Little bit after that another buck is sniffing on the trail that that doe ran off. Right before dark had another buck walk past behind me. Total 5 different bucks. Nothing big yet. Back out this morning had a little guy at 15 yards and a small buck behind me. Can't wait to hit the stand again in the morning.

I killed the biggest buck of my life yesterday morning. Big beautiful 8 that we rough scored at 135. I will post pics and the story to the harvest thread.

Went out again this morning. Had a small buck snapped off on his right side come by at 7:30, felt like I was going to get blown out of my tree. Called it a day at 9:00 when it started to rain.

Well I finally got gas today. Full tank. I haven't been able to get gas for 2 weeks. Now I can go hunting on Saturday. I see some game lands are still closed out east, and waiting on DEC to reopen on Friday if it is possible.
