13BVET
Well, finally tried bowhunting back here (neighbors couldn't care less). Had a doe come barreling in-thought a buck was chasing. That was not the case. The doe offered a nice broadside at 25 yards. Then, I saw what was following-a fawn so young, it wasn't funny. Decided to let the doe walk. I just couldn't bring myself to take the doe, with such a young fawn in tow. Has anyone else run into these dilemmas?
irish_redneck
take the mom, then wait for the fawn to come back and check on mom and take it too... if you have the tags that is.
GreeneHunter
Last year I had a Doe Tag to fill and when big momma came walking into sight I was ready to pull the trigger , then I spot behind her was her two little twins frolicking and not paying attention to Mom .... I let them pass !
irish_redneck
if they're twins, and you line them up for a single kill... can't you just connect one tag through both their ears?
13BVET
The fawn was so small, it was unbelieveable. This thing was TINY.

First-light
This late in the year the fawn being so small will need mother to help out. I pass.
shawnhu
I'd probably let it go. It's one thing to shoot the fawn, but another to have it lose mom and suffer.
growalot
I've made those decisions many a time...and when you get down to gut the doe you decided to take and a fawn comes up and stands 20yrds away bleating...it re-enforces those previous decisions ..... crappyice
What's the likelihood of it surviving even with the mother if it is that small at this point and weather changing? I'd take the shot. Mama is about to hook up with some horny buck and leave little one alone anyway...a couple of Yotes ae lining up at the buffet table already. Marcygirl
Let the momma walk take the baby, nothing like some yummy veal, pus not such a hard drag could probley throw it over your sholder, mother will be abandoning it soon anyways for some greedy buck

These two come through here literally every day. In my younger days, I wouldn't have even thought twice about it. Today, though, for some reason, it nags at me. Baffles the mind! irish_redneck
Line them up if their twins? One tag through both ears? It was a joke Four Season's, I'm sorry that your sense of humor has yet to come to maturity in you, though from previous posts of yours I shouldn't be suprised.
