Can two female labs get along together?

I have a 2yr old female yellow lab & looked at a female lab puppy tonight. I have heard mixed opinions. Some say get a male because 2 females may fight? Any help would be great!!

maybe the person with the puppy would be willing to let you take her for a "test drive" to make sure things work out.

i dont see an issue with it, id try them out together and see how they are. 2 males or 2 females of any breed can get along fine it just depends on one of the dogs may not like the idea of another dog around. i have 3 females of different breeds and they have no problems... id say give em a chance to warm up to each other.

I dont really see it as an issue either. Maybe i'll see if my wife can take our dog over for a visit with the pup first.

that would be a good start... even dogs that dont get along right off the start can still get acclimated together. good luck

we have three dogs (two diff breeds) when we first got the 2nd and then 3rd dogs they didnt like each other but now there best friends...

labs for sure, as long as you stop any negative behavior as soon as it comes out you shouldnt have a problem, Even a little growl put an end to it fast

Thanks for the re-assurance everyone!! I always grew up with short hair pointers & somehow ended up wanting labs. I guess they fit my personality!!

We have two adult male unneutered shepherds that live together and they do fine...our kids have female mixes and they are fine...the only problems that arise is when they start to get older...like 7-8...then you can see a lack of tolerance to even friendly boundary stepping...
