TeeBugg
Hoping to get out a few mornings this week...possibly the weekend too. Just trying to up my odds to bag my 2nd bird. Plan to call sparingly and hit the woods around 9. But wondering if i should setup near a watering hole with hen decoys....
MACHINIST
I had 4 jakes come in saturday without a decoy. It was tough but they came in for a shot.I think it really depends on the bird.I also think if you cant give it a little movement its might not work this late in the year. G-Man
i hit woods early, it will be warm, turkeys will seek shade and water and lounge in late morning till late afternoon. early in the fields and back in the woods by 800 or 900 to go find a shady spot has been my experiance in late season

2012_taco
Decoys can work in late season, but I would use only hens and maybe 1 jake. I like to use a branch I pick up to get them up higher as the green fields are so deep. decoys don't work if they can't see them. It worked for me last weekend, I called in 4 jakes and 1 longbeard, the jakes came right to the dekes and the gobbler tried to check it out from a little distance, unfortunately for him, not far enough! landtracdeerhunter
This weekend should be real nice as we head back to 60 degrees. Last Sunday was hotter than a frogs hair. . I'm using feeding hens. That has brought in a jake or two. The toms just don't seem to care much any more. If all else fails, maybe the grocery can help me with a bird, LOL. njg0621
All the Toms in my area have shut right down. Haven't seen many Jakes so I am not sure what they are up to. I get on a Tom within 100 yards and he just doesn't want to do anything but feed int he tilled corn fields! Luckilly I bagged a nice one early and called for my Dad and Bro-Inlaw and got them both birds becasue they are shutdown now. Good luck to all on the final weekend!
