new rest and sight for 2013....

Soon will be in the market for a new rest and sight...sporting a single pin impact sight and a limbdriver. Any thoughts? I prefer single pins as i only shoot to 30 yards....

I love my HHA sight. Great quality and awesome customer service. For a rest I'm using a QAD Ultra HDX. Its an awesome rest.

HHA or Trophy Ridge are both good sights. As for a rest, the Limbdriver you have is a good one. I would also recommend a Trophy Taker Smackdown, Rip Cord or the QAD Ultra HDX. Cant go wrong with any of them, just pick what you like best!

I do like the limbdriver. Maybe just a new sight for this year. I like solid single pins and have never liked the moveable hha styles. Just my opinion...

Trophy ridge make the Alpha 1. Its one fixed vertical pin.

Whisker biscuit is the best hunting rest on the market. Very consistent, easy to tune and your arrow won't fall out of it. <br /><br />For a sight I use a trophy ridge vertical 5 pin sight. I like the idea of a single pin but I target shoot my bow out to 70-80 yards and like just having the other pins.

I've never used a sigle pin myself, but my buddy has one.  It's a Tru Glow and it has the brightest pin I have ever seen on a bow sight in my life.

 

As for a rest, I have a QAD Ultra Rest HD and I have no plans to get rid of it. It's a great rest.

I like the adjustable pin sights . I have a Tru-Glo Brite Sight on two bows . It is similar to the HHA but costs a lot less .

 

As for rests , I have a DMI drop away on one bow and a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone on another .

I would have stuck with the Whisker Biscuit rest but I shoot Quik-Spin vanes and that didn't work out too well .

 

I tried a QAD Pro rest as I like the "full containment" but didn't like care for the rest and sold it in Classifieds on another site .

I don't know why you would want to swap out the LD...that and the QAD at the two best rests on the market IMO.

 

Sights are so much more preferential than about performance these days. It's alot like buying a new bow...any one from the bigger manufacturers is going to be good. It's just about what fits for you.

I used to shoot a biscuit but they dont make an insert big enough for 2413 aluminums. Otherwise id still be shooting one. Love the limbdriver and may stick with it another season. Guess im really on the hunt for a sight then...

I have to disagree with the whisker biscuit being the best on the market. The LD he currently has is much nicer and more accurate. I do like the trophy ridge 5 pin sights and would recommend them. Haven't shot a single pin in 15 years.

There are no accuracy issues with whisker biscuits. That notion is a complete farce.

I don't care for fall away rest, just a matter of opinion. I've never had any issues with my set up. I just think too much can go wrong with the fall aways.

I know you don't lose much velocity with the biscuit within the first 20 yards. But at 30+ yards I'm sure there is 15-20 fps (or more) difference, hence losing your accuracy. Great rest for guys who don't shoot past 30 yards and still hunt, IMO.

Speed has nothing to do with accuracy. My bow is just as accurate as my buddy's, which is a similar bow, rated at the same speed, with his having a drop away and mine a WB. I routinely shoot 40+ with my bow.

Have to agree. Ive shot a biscuit out of speed bows, slow bows, middle of the roar bows out to 50 and never had issues with maintaining accuracy. I may go back to a biscuit now that i found almost a dozen aluminums that they do make a biscuit for. Love the limbdriver but somehow i always end up back with a biscuit lol

I actually believe the WB is more difficult to tune than say a LD.

 

WB get bad wraps for a variety of reasons and potential reasons. They certainly are a serviceable rest, but to me, it's a starter rest for someone setup by a pro shop that knows what it is doing.

 

People get worried about them freezing, losing bristles, shedding vanes, and tuning issues. The tuning issue is the legit complaint IMO. If set up correctly, they are good to go, but many people run into problems.

 

With rests like the LD, it's elementary.

The only problem I had with a WB was shooting Qwik Spins as the tiny tabs would get screwed up in the whiskers . Oh yeah , you can't shoot FOBs through them either ! lol

The WB is a nice containment rest !

A fact is a fact Eddie. FPS is lost using WB compared to a drop away.
