Any recommendations for hunting spots near rochester?

I'm new to the Rochester area and would like recommendations for hunting spots in Monroe county. I live in perinton.  Also if anyone has any private land that they will let me hunt on I would be very grateful.

Rochester Brooks Gun Club is a great facility, as is Genesee Conservation league.  Check them both out.

I have heard of people hunting in chili, do you know any spots?

Of what I know of chili it would be private land.

Wyoming county has state land

Not a ton of public land in Monroe County. I believe there is some, but it's not big and/or publicized too much. It is hit hard though.

 

Best bet would be a trek to Letchworth or on the east side of the city, there are some spots in Wayne Co.

Livingston County. Put on the walking boots and get in early and deep around hemlock Lake.

Oh. and saw one leg off at the knee so you can stand straight up on the side hills...lol

Theres nothing in Chili I know of.

 

Letchworth, Hemlock/Watershed land are the two easiest bets right now for you to at least get in on.

 

Otherwise it's time to start knocking on doors, calls, etc.

If I were set on gaining access privately, I'd stay east side just for proximity sake...

 

No point in driving west through Monroe County when good hunting is at your doorstep (private land that is).

You should check, but I think the 1000 acre swamp in penfield/webster allows bow hunting.   Thats what I was told.  Not 100% on that.

Sampson State park in Seneca county, its not to close but there are people that travel from Buffalo to hunt in it, There are alot of deer and its easy to navigate with about 1500 acre's  on seneca lake that you can hunt,

The closet rural are to me is in mendon, anyone know any hunting spots there?

Why not look at a dec map or go knock on doors. If you do your own work you will get to know the area better and then you can do your own scouting also. But

there are a few nice guys on here and one of them just might show up to drag deer to your car for you.

Can you tell me where the private land is in chili  that allows hunters to use? Then when I  know where it is I can ask for permission to hunt on it.

Tax maps and google maps will help you find spots, it takes some work but it can pay off,
