Im down in the poison ivy bottom this morning. Trying something a little different. Im standing in the middle of 5 trees that are bunched together. The trail I am watching is 25 yards across a creek. Ive seen a bunch of deer walking down that trail from @ 100 yards every time I have hunted down here so I figured I would try this once before gun opens. Seeing as I am on state land and this might be my last bow hunt, my 8 point rule is out the window lol.

Just got settled into my stand. Busted a fox out on my way in. It looked like a parade of trucks heading south on my way up here. Lets see what daybreak brings.

Started hearing shots at 6:40

I had a monster run by.    It.was the big 8 I saw during bow.    He would not stop running! !!!!

Ive seen 1 doe so far. It was still too early.

Had a few does go by.    Not grouped up.    By the way that buck was moving the rut prob still on.

One of my buddies texted me. He shot 2 doe so far.

Cant tell on my phone. My morning is done. The farmer up the road just started combining the con field 75 yards fom my stand. Im gonna sit fow a few mins to see if anything runs out of there. Maybe it will be good tonight.

Just had 4 doe visit me.

Saw about four button bucks so far - each stuck around for 15 min each - also one spike who ran out right under my stand - I spooked him while I was on the phone talking to my dad about how stupid it was acting while looking straight at me ... Haha then he just walked straight back to the pines where he came from - heard a lot of shots locally in the valley in the early morn - hope they are taking real bucks- really quiet now

Decided to hunt the new farm for the mid day. Kicked 2 sandhill cranes out on my walk back to my spot. Ive never seen those before. Kinda cool.

Saw another doe.    Gonna head in for lunch in a few.

Saw a doe and a fawn this morning tons of shots around me but nothing running by me. First shot I heard this morning was at 615 a little early I think. Eating lunch on watch then going to go back to the treestand

6:15? How the heck can you see without a light at that time? I had a doe out in front of me at 6:30 and it was way too dark.

Ive been watching guys go in and back out from lunch. Gonna pack up and head back to my stand soon.

When I heard the shot I almost jumped out of my skin scared the hell out of me. I no I could not have seen a clear shot at that time.

First shot here was 6:36 then 8 more shots within 2 minutes. Between 6:36 and 9:30 I heard 120 shots (I was bored can you tell?) I had a small doe appear at 50 yards and come straight to my stand and stopped at 11 yards. She looked at me but put her head down and kept eating the thorns. Then she came in closer almost right under me before my buddy (220 yards away) shot at a buck twice. The doe looked at the direction the shots come and ran about 10 yards then hung out for a bit. She didn't seem bothered I was there.
